Well, more like yesterday.
Someone said to me that "you are too peppy to go into engineering".
O_o
At first I was kind of surprised...I mean, who told this person that I was going into Engineering?? In fact, I don't even want to go into engineering, my major is computer science.
Well, to make matters short, the conversation went even further, I really dislike it when people think they know me and tell me what I am good at or not. I am naturally "hyper" but that doesn't mean that just because of that I can't go into engineering.
People...

you're peppy enough to be an engineer!
anyway. the person who said that was probably jealous and an extrovert!
Heh heh. A chameleon at work, maybe? :)

Normally employers want people who are peppy and enthusiastic. That just sounds weird.

It's not so much that I am not proud to be called that...it's just that this person thought that she knew me well enough to tell me what I should do with my life and what I couldn't do because I was peppy.
That's what frustrated me...

Most people I meet are almost too careful NOT to give their opinion on what I might be good at. ;) But I think I understand why, they just really don't know! And I don't mean that in the sense that they would if they were more knowledgeable, its the case that they confess to their ignorance because of their knowledge. If you go into a discipline dominated by a few type of people that are different from you, then what you can really conclude is that you will bring a unique style to the discipline.

There are worse things to be described as than peppy. I don't think it has anything to do with engineering ability, though.

I have some bad news, i recieved an email from mum telling me that Peppy is in at the vets, last night he started to have breathing difficulties and the vet thinks it may be lung worm.
This morning Peppy is in a stable condition.
God bless you peppy

Like I said before...I didn't have a problem with the naming thing so much...as the fact that this person assumed she knew me well enough to tell me what to do or not to do...
And if Peppy is actually real and not well (which I hope for) I wish him/her good things.

I've never been called peppy before, but I have been called BUBBLY. I've also been asked if I dyed my hair by more than one person (in reference to me being a brunette, and supposedly being ditzy like a blonde). I'm sure it has more to do with my habit of not paying attention to what's going on in my surroundings than my intelligence.

And you're honestly implying that he knows the difference between the two majors?

My rationalization is that the judgement of lesser intelligent people carries no real weight under its weak arms of intelligence.
