Ok, no it's not.

If it were introvert personality types wouldn't exist. We would be left on a mountainside or thrown into the sea by our parents, as soon as they had a hunch we're not worthy for the war machine that was Sparta.

Some of us like to think our personality type is determined and can not be changed.

If society all of the sudden converted into Sparta!!!, would you still not be able to change?

Myself, I do not think personality types are fixed permanently, they are conditional.

From Life of Lycurgus by Plutarch

Nor was it in the power of the father to dispose of the child as he thought fit; he was obliged to carry it before certain triers at a place called Lesche; these were some of the elders of the tribe to which the child belonged; their business it was carefully to view the infant, and, if they found it stout and well made, they gave order for its rearing, and allotted to it one of the nine thousand shares of land above mentioned for its maintenance, but, if they found it puny and ill-shaped, ordered it to be taken to what was called the Apothetae, a sort of chasm under Taygetus; as thinking it neither for the good of the child itself, nor for the public interest, that it should be brought up, if it did not, from the very outset, appear made to be healthy and vigorous

I dont think we are absolutely fixed to live our personality types, but I dont think they change either.

So... are you saying we are the equivalent of this?

Seriously, what aspects of INTP do you think would exclude us from surviving in a battle-driven society? We can be physically fit. We are intelligent. We are not inclined to make stupid decisions that would get us killed. We might not make the best RAWR COMMANDER, but pretty sure the drive to be competent in our chosen profession would provide a solid framework for INTP to find a role in your Sparta fantasy. For starters, the INTP personality actually lists "assassin" under favorable professions. The general disposition is there.

Actually, students were only rewarded for giving brief, smartass (laconic) answers, apparently.

Sounds like you just had to be at least a certain size, tough, and brave.

I didnt say INTP,. I said Introverts..... gesus christ! read why dont ya...

Plus, Your argument is irrelevant. You wouldn't be able to bullshit your way into acceptance, like your post is trying to insinuate . The judgers would see your introvertedness and execute immediately.

I cannot even begin to understand how you've arrived at this conclusion. Kindly explain your rationale.

"Spartans! Ready your breakfast and eat hearty... For tonight, we dine in hell!"

Sparta sounds like STJs and ISTPs. There's no relevance to your Sparta vs introversion dichotomy.

I don't really see what aspect of Spartan culture excludes introverts...

Oh..... Then your post is even more ridiculous.

Are you drunk? This is the sort of reasoning you have when wasted in your dorm room at 3AM and there is nothing to do but eat 4-month-old pizza bagels.

With "THIS IS SPARTA" and "The Internet Ruined Nerds Forever" in your repertoire, you've pretty much got half of a stand-up routine!!!

I got the idea of this thread when I was listening to some plato. something similar to what you linked, but different.. Where he was referring to Sparta parents killing their babies if they showed signs of weakness. I used the term 'introverted' because when viewed externally Introverted personalities show more weakness signs than extroverted. I didn't use any IXXX because some of the other types are not a prevalent in weaker characters as in introverts.

also, I know you cant really tell at birth whether a baby is introverted or extroverted. thats is why I made the reference in the OP to " if sparta rule were to happen now, would you change?" or something like that.

To be introverted is to be Laconic like uhm.... Wharf for example.

Laconic.

Meaning: using few words, terse. Originates from Laconia-Spartan territory. The Spartan's were known for their brusque speech. The best example is the reply when Philip of Macedon wrote to Spartan magistrates: "If I enter Laconia, I will level Lacedaemon to the ground ". The Spartans' reply was " If ".

I can't help but smile when someone uses laconic as an insult.
