In this thread, you can either act like Hustler does, or pretend to be sincerely questioning him. I will start things off . .

"We don't need a detailed blueprint, but at least some GUIDELINES as to what it is you're recommending . . . "

Now it is your turn, to reply to this in the style of Hustler.

Of course, the REAL Hustler is also encouraged to play "himself" or even . . . . . . . . ( gulp ) one of us "in need of guidance" !

I don't need "help" but I do seek knowledge. It seems to me there are two KINDS of knowledge. An "industry specific" knowledge of practical things, and a knowledge which is more like an "ability" - as in the show McGiver, where he improvises. Agreed?

You insects amuse me. But I can feel compassion for you, even so. Thinking what it must be like to be an insect. . . . It's my whimsy to think of such things from time to time, and now . . is one of those instances. If you would only LISTEN!! It's like watching a bird beating against a tiny hole at the top of a dark attic, trying to get through to the light! Those of us who are ALREADY illuminated know that sometimes you must fly DOWNWARDS to escape confinement, into free airspace, and THEN fly up! How many times and in how many ways must I try to release you from the cages of your OWN INTP MINDS!!! And "downwards" can mean MANY things!! Bah, fools . . . .

This meta-thread about me only serves to show that my ideas have penetrated your minds, despite the shells wrought of decades of misery, inaction and denial in which they all reside. If only you could turn your enthusiasm into something more productive than making altogether feeble attempts at belittling me (a hopeless prospect, I assure you), then perhaps you could rise above your present-day mediocrity and grasp the greatness which you so richly deserve as INTPs. While I hold you all in general disregard at present, I shall nonetheless maintain hope for your futures.

Or are you seriously advocating a pygmy secretarial slave trade? I can concede that that at least might have a market. But how do you get them to hold pencils right in their teensy hands? Maybe teensy pencils, but how are those going to heal the tattered remains of my tortured soul?

I don't think gnomes have anything to do with success.
They have a lot to do with success in mining. A major reason for the decline in mining in both America and Europe has been the recent lack of veneration paid to the Dwarvish Race. That and capitalist bastard management.

Where would you get a gnome, anyway?
There are methods... but I was so outraged at Alberich having enslaved all those little dwarves I was forced to renege on our agreement and keep the Ring for myself.

I'm very busy, successful and fulfilled with my secret niche of fortune, but out of the goodness of my heart, I will solve your pathetic problems in my spare time. When you unquestioningly adhere to my infalliable advice which is based on reading a 5 minute post of yours, your problems will be solved. My theory doesn't have to be backed up by facts because I should not be questioned. If you do question me, you are automatically an idiot and should cease your useless posts in my magnificient thread. It detracts from my glorious advice and may confuse the poor INTPs I am trying to save from themselves. It is impossible to belittle me or my ideas because I don't listen to rational ideas that oppose me in any way.

Thanks to me, some of you woe-begotten souls gain wisdom. Some of you have learned not to pay attention to my text. It pretends to be prescriptive but it doesn't actually prescribe anything. It's vague, and, yes, it's insulting. (I make no apology for the latter; you whiners needed a good verbal kick in the backside if only to get your attention.)

No, some of you intuitives have grasped that the text doesn't matter, the subtext matters. It's not the message, it's the meta-message. Life is a test, but I shan't give you the answers, only the questions.

Nature has no meaning in itself, man brings meaning to nature through his conscious faculties. Man is not merely natural, he is also divine.

Lee
18 May 2005, 02:16 PM
Man is not merely natural, he is also divine.Yeah, that'll be it, man is "divine", even hustler and Adolf Hitler. Man is a special creature that has "divinity", nobody really knows what divinity is, or whether it existes, therefore specualtion to it's nature is irrelevent because there is no way to understand it because it is outside nature, but it must still influence nature otherwise it would be meaningless to us mere creatures... so it cannot be outside mere nature, because it also must necassarily be a part of it.... presuming that we are "divine", whatever that means .

But yeah, whatever, I can't disprove hustler's divinity so it must be true... *sigh*

I don't even know how there is an arguement over this. Alas, people are stupid, even INTPs.

Right. You have just proven my point. You're wasting your time, Kuranes. Don't you see? Instead of watching Star Wars and indulging in geeky activities like most INTPs, you should get out in the real world and use your skills. It's pathetic really, you think you're cool saying this... But just wait until you have to make money and you'll realize all you've learnt was really useless. If you want to be a really succesful guy, you have to TEACH. Yeah. That's when you'll know you've reached the top. You have to teach others and not use knowledge in a selfish way. This is what I've been trying to show YOU by coming here to teach you my experience. Refer you to the knowledge that fantasy is reality? Once I accepted this I became a hell of a lot happier.

People tend to not like your confidence, or "all knowingness", but why? People, think about it. Why say you are worse then you are? If someone thinks they are great, they must be so, and, if not, they will fall when the true test comes. INTPs (as all types) follow their own path, away from the rest. Thinking that we follow the same one as SJs, or Es, etc. is stupid. We are different. So, accept yourself, and stopping wealing and woeing about it. You're just as capable of living as Es and SJs, it'll just be different. Rejection? All great minds are thought to be insane, so be insane, and enjoy yourselves.

That's the spirit, zeitgeist. You have joined me on a crusade well worth your investment. The mission? To rid ourselves of any semblence of self-doubt and inferiority. I must warn you as you take this solemn pledge. We will encounter the enemy, but we must be fearless. Think of yourself as your favorite mythological warrior, Achilles, perhaps. Yes, he had an Achilles heel, as do we all, and was seen as a traitor by the common soldier, but if we go down by getting shot in the heel, so be it. Our weaknesses must not prevent us from fighting against the wiles of the devil, who shows traits of being SJ, woe-begotten, and pathetic.

Clearly, my approach is working.

Interpretation:

I have garnered SO much attention from these Lilliputians, I MUST be important in the grand scheme of things; one of these peons started a thread about ME after all. ME!

This meta-thread about me only serves to show that my ideas have penetrated your minds, despite the shells wrought of decades of misery, inaction and denial in which they all reside.

Interpretation:

This is where I use my specially-patented brand of snobbery to show all of you “lowly” INTPs my greater purpose in this universe. My purpose is SO much greater than yours. And I have no respect for any peons who question it.

If only you could turn your enthusiasm into something more productive than making altogether feeble attempts at belittling me (a hopeless prospect, I assure you), then perhaps you could rise above your present-day mediocrity and grasp the greatness which you so richly deserve as INTPs.

Interpretation:

Because this thread IS, after all, about me, eh? Only we omnipotent souls deserve to have such virtual opposition. Apparently I am the only one amongst us that is capable of grasping greatness. Okay, so Hustler is THE only 'great' one. Sucks to be you guys, doesn’t it?

While I hold you all in general disregard at present, I shall nonetheless maintain hope for your futures.

Interpretation:

Um, well. . .I can’t really think of anything else to say about how cool I am at this second, rest assured. I’ll be back.

(comment directed at waxwing) “You are wise beyond your years. It is a shame such an insightful young man is so disillusioned with life. The world is your oyster, my friend.”

Interpretation:

Even though I don’t know you well enough to know that you, waxwing, are a chick, I am in a position to judge you because I have all the answers, and sorry little grain of sand who stands 5 totem-levels below me, I have the “right” to tell you that the world is your oyster. You are the sand, and I am the potential pearl. If only you would embrace me for what I am: your master.

You begin to understand. Interpretation:

Dear, dear child. COME to The Master Hustler. I have all the answers, and, in time, they shall be yours. But first you must commit yourself to my ways or you shall forever be resigned to a life of disillusioned misguidedness.

Final interpretation and summary:

I, THE Master Hustler, shall show you what life is all about. Follow me, and you shall become enlightened. Those who dare question me are beyond all hope.

Don't tempt me. My superior impersonation skills would reveal the utter mediocrity of this entire thread. Far from saving it, my post would mark its descent from Classic status into the Dumpster, where it rightfully belongs. You of all people wouldn't want that. Would you?

Try as you may, you will find that a classic thread about me is impervious to your pathetic attempts to sabotage it. As it is about me, it is unassailable in its greatness, and no effort on your part will change that fact.

You misunderstand me. But that was to be expected. My contribution would relegate this sad charade to the oblivion it deserves. Such an act is not one of sabotage, but of Justice.

The greatness of a thread depends wholly on its content, and not on its pathetically derisory aspirations. Just as in the real world, it is ultimately not idealistic intention, but objective results that matter. The results exhibited on this thread were created by the dull and unimaginative masses you so critisize on this board - a group in which I am ironically compelled to include you, as you have been unable to halt the laughable development of this sorry display of 'wit'.

But I harbor no hopes as to your capacity to grasp the distinction between intention and results. I have sadly noted that this is a confusion that plagues the common INTP such as yourself. Only a select few will understand the wisdom I have come to offer. And you have not yet proven to me that you are one of them.

I'm interested in Hustler in the same way I'm interested in Shai gar, Claverhouse, Zedo and some others. I don't really understand what drives them, how much their concealing and what their actually like face to face.

Let's cut to the chase and stop beating around the bush in an abstract manner.

Sorry, no. This is a forum for abstract types. Go to an S forum if you want concrete answers.

Hustler: do you have any specific examples of how a person might find their niche? I guess I could move out into the woods and eat berries. Alternately, I could flip burgers my whole life and take a Stoic approach to happiness - after all, I can always be king of myself (and could spit into others' food).

Wait, both of these preclude having much money. So, do you suggest that we become con artists and criminals? I'm not passing moral judgment (at the moment); I'm just curious if that's what you recommend as our "niche."
Yes, I have specific examples. No, I'm not going to share them with you. The first step to all of this stuff is to realize that you may have to put in a little upfront effort to get where you want. If I tell you what to do and you do it, that's really no better than you settling for a job which sucks. We've been over all of this before, and it remains just as irrelevant now as it was about 15 pages of posts ago.

I think Hustler is so (in)famous because of his displayed confidence, certainty being something few INTPs allow themselves. Unfortunately for Hustler's crediblity he always fails in delivering anything substantial as the evasive behavior in the above quote demonstrates. His presentation on Poker as a means of sustaining joblessness shows that he's not actually against it in principle. Although it seems to me that Hustler is more likely then not lying about his Poker profits. Interestingly enough for the reasons stated above I PMed Hustler on the meaning of life. He declined to comment.

This is the internet, unfounded claims are our most abundant resource.

That being said some base parts of his philosophy are good advice. Creating your own meaning in life, pursuing what makes you happy, not holding yourself to other's standards. Although I'm not comfortable in admiting the grand superiority of INTPs there is advantage to our tendancy for objective analysis of the social and moral obligations impinged on us and greater then average awareness of our own motivations.

Just for fun I entered "Hustler" in googlisms (http://www.googlism.com/index.htm?ism=Hustler&type=1).

hustler is the master of one
hustler is every bit as brilliant as its lofty reputation suggests
hustler is more hardcore than ever
hustler is not without its flaws
hustler is broke
hustler is no playboy
hustler is depicted as tacky at worst
hustler is the household name in adult entertainment

I'm entertained.

Take my thread about who would win in a fight between Jean Luc Picard and Jesus. Who can explain to me the deeper subtext of this ? If you cannot do so then you have no place on this board, and the day of reckoning is coming when such poseurs will be dealt with. He pushes for what he feels is best for this forum.

My only advice would be to analyze the context behind his words - see his rhetoric for what it is and recognize his contributions as resuscitative gestures intended to occasionally add verve to banality.

He pushes for what he feels is best for this forum.

He writes well and many of his ideas are well thought-out.

Consider him as you would pepper on scrambled eggs. Not everyone enjoys it, but for some, it's the best part of breakfast.

And to think that he incessantly labors to have the INTJs removed, when clearly he's appreciated even by them.

Is this a backdoor attempt to win him over, Night?

It's no surprise that you feel this way, INFP. You lack the cognitive ability to understand your own intellectual inferiority. INFPs are simply dumber than INTPs. You can apply all the illogical, foolhardy ideas you want to the concept of intelligence, but it doesn't change the reality that INFPs, just like the rest of the types, are, taken on the whole, the intellectual inferiors of INTPs.

I hope you never post here again.

Sure, but at least people like us where it counts: in the real world. Being an internet badass means fuck all - maybe you'll stop being intellectual enough to accrue some wisdom and realize that one day.

While you're conquering the digital world of INTPc and being nerdier-than-thou, we'll be out doing all that other silly stuff. You know, making friends and forming relationships with something other than anonymous avatars and gambling tables. But, hey, to each his own.

Amusing, but ridiculous. I sincerely doubt YOU are out making anything resembling friends. No, you're too busy being one of my most loyal and fervent detractors. I suspect you read a higher percentage of my posts than anyone but LongSilence, who certainly reads and rereads 100% of them. The two of you are like the Architectonic of the new era: clearly my inferiors, clearly unable to understand my pearls of infinite wisdom, and clearly frustrated by my apparently unjustified status and recognition. You think you see through me, or past me, and the others do not but, in truth, you are blinded by your own flagging ego. Even still, I shall grant you a kindness and let you know that I see you there. Yes, I see you, splashing around in my wake, struggling to be heard. Only your words are empty and vain, and no matter how much you try and chip away at my invincible presence and build yourself up through strawmen, assumptions, and lies, you would be far better off if you stopped struggling, stopped trying so hard, and actually started living your own life. And I hope you find fortune in that regard. Until you've reached the point in life where you have mustered enough courage to do that though, you're welcome to continue wallowing in my shadow, and crying your effete words into the ether. If you could get past your assumption that everyone thinks like you, you might have a chance at preventing yourself from expressing your flawed judgment and thus making an utter fool of yourself. You might also realize that letting you sing my praises is my crumbles under the table for you petty minds, which seems in need of worshiping an idol for you to feel sufficiently secure about yourself.

HUSTLER REVEALED!!!!

Okay, I came to this forum to read some threads, but I joined this forum becaue the Hustler needs to be smacked down. And that's what makes him such a great and controversial poster.

SO, I KNOW HIM! I swear. I will tell you the story. I wonder if I am correct...Only he can tell me.

About seven years ago, my friends and I were on AIM. This kid named "Matt" contacted us, and we let him into our chat room. He was from one of the Coastal cities in California.... Or Los Gatos. Anyway, he suddenly started becoming all insulting, and his rhetoric was JUST like the Hustler's. It was very, very tragic. I remember him because I have never seen such extreme (God, what do you call it?) - an extreme display of Evil Napolean Complex in my life. It left such a bad feeling. What the hell kind of parents did he have?

This type of mental conditino was rare...

Why do you follow me around the forum and base your entire INTPc identity on me? Face it, the only reason you even get noticed around here is because you follow along in my wake.

haha, but the real point here is- that doesn't bother me: I'm not here to parade myself or my ego. I don't care what colour my username is, how many 'classic' threads are made about me or how much other forum people who have no idea who I am really have no idea who I am. I only 'obsess' / reply to posts where you're being a dick, stupid or simply when I feel so inclined. And funnily enough, if we get all INTPish about it let's actually get rational here. If you want to make a point go all out and actually search through my posts which make a point against you and compare their number and the effort that goes into them with those I make about any other point.

Now, we could always do the same for you and see how many your posts are rehashing the same tired out put-you-down / big-me-up formula, not of course forgetting the whole non-intp / n00b thing. But nah, that'd be pretty boring and irrelevant.

It should bother you that you're obsessed with a guy on an internet forum. Just saying. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes on this one. You can make all the self-righteous excuses you want about why you're obsessed with me but, ultimately, it doesn't really matter; it's still an unhealthy obsession.

Hey, I forgot about this thread.

Let's talk about me now. Okay? Let's be Deanna.

Let's suppose you want to study archaeological linguistics, but see, you realise that you need a few degrees and first a few G's. Then let's suppose although you love it with your "F" through your "T," your "F" (oh, and "T") thinks that it has no place in real life today (T side's arugement) and no place to help others (INFP side debating). Aside from apologetics and stories for TIME and National Geographic magazines, there's really no need for these subjects.

So, how do we weigh wants against needs? I (at least in my rotten opinion) feel (not think) that Archaeology and Linguistics both have more use on society than, say, an Art History degree or some kind of other crap that is irrelevant to functioning in society. Sure, if I were an aristocrat with time on my hands, I would study whatever the hell I fancied. But there's that practical side to me.... So indecisive, so INF/tP.
