I told myself I wasn't going to meddle into this...but here I go, going against myself once again, oh, such rebellion *wink*
I watched a documentary on it with my parents just now, for those of you who don't know what the acronym means, it stands for Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional, as you might have guessed, they are also widely known as "Zapatistas" throughout the world.
Since this is supposed to be a flamethrower, I will do my best to keep up to standards.
The documentary was titled just that, Zapatistas, needless to say I cried way too much for my comfort, but it's ok, because only things like these make me cry in public ;)
I narrowed my rant to some things, so, here they are:
1. What they are basically asking for is so simple, so essential, and so easy to understand that is just intuition, basic intuitive rights of human beings, and it's basically what Zapata fought for, and what Salinas de Gortari (President of Mexico for a while) erradicated in 1991.
2. This isn't some type of "wah wah, poor Mexicans and their poor indigenous people"-deal, it's global, it's supported by millions of people.
3. I dislike the fact that many people here take this as some type of icon for "rebelling", please, don't do it if you don't know what the hell you are talking about...
4. I really hope, from the bottom of my being and heart (I never ever add "heart" to anything, ever, in a public forum) that this impacts the world in a way which people can live like they should live; like they want to live and they need to live, and I will give my life to help in whatever way I can.
Now, perhaps you don't know what the hell I am talking about in here, or you don't care, and that's ok, there are certain things in life that I am totally passionate about, this is one of them. And just reminding myself of the things that have happened in my own country makes me ill, but gives me the initiative to keep living.
I don't think I am about to say anything else on the subject, you are certainly welcome to PM me if you want to talk to me or insult me privately, this is just up for the viewing of others, a simple informational rant, nothing more nothing less.
