Right now ignore simply shows the person's post and says something to the effect of "You have this person on ignore, click here to view the message".
Is there a way to go beyond this?
For example, to not even show this person's topics at all? I know quotes will still show up from time to time, but I would like to completely remove someone from my view
I would also suggest a forced ignore. That is to say that to prevent continued bickering a person could request that they have permanent ignore placed on a person, and that person have the same placed on them. Permanently. You can never see his/her posts and they can never see yours.
I think it would solve headaches and prevent problems like the EZ/SB issue from surfacing

On the topic of an admin-forced ignore: yes, it would have saved the EZ/SB issue. That's been a rare bird, right? as in, the only time? So while the admins having a forced-ignore command might prove useful to the community, I don't think it would get used...
But, as for the current ignore system: I would prefer it stay the same. People who don't have *cough* on ignore just quote him anyway....and once in a great while, I might want to know what he said. The current system certainly meets _my_ needs, and I think either melypooh or arc said "why bother?"
That is, as INTPs, our curiousity will often get the better of us anyway. Just make it easy to see what sillines *cough* is up to today, and go back to ignoring the 'you have him on ignore' link.

if you use greasemonkey(firefox extension), there is probably a way to do it with javascript, possibly (if you want to try this, I'd give it a whirl).
edit1- I just looked into it. kind of kludgy if it was to be done with greasemoney. and I found a script where someone already did the leg work(I would just have to modify).. so if you're interested in that I can try.

cant you just ignore them on your own?
maybe put some shiny things on your desk, really pretty shiny things and you can look at those instead.
i dont know what this is about but if you want to shut out the world, first step is to get off the internet.
