View Full Version : an idea

It'd be cool to have a place where we can wax philosophical about personal philosophies, on a continual basis, kind of like a journal or blog thread, but here, and easily accessible for those of us who spend way too much time on this site.

I just replied to fci's thread about "thoughts on the afterlife" and man, did I have to stifle the urge to go off on strange tangents. An "INTP Journal" space would be neat because we could have a place that we could talk about whatever, and not have to worry about what "area" we were posting in or keeping the discussion "on topic," but still get comments or whatever.

Not that threads don't go on strange tangents here all the time . . . it's just an idea.

I say just go with the tangent, give in to the urge... go off topic!!

But it isn't a bad idea, it could well be interesting.

There's really nothing stopping you from starting a blog thread in the pub forum. Go for it. I wish more people would collect their random reflections in a single thread like that.

True, but it would still seem out of place in the greater context of the forum. I'm a complete organizational mess IRL, but when it comes to discussion of ideas and such, I like at least a little structure. . .

I also had the thought that RE the Utopmk/Stem thing, it might actually be quite useful if people had their own "space" to discuss their issues or whatever, with a semi-constant and familar readership. Since INTPs are generally awesome at distinguishing patterns, it could maybe be a preventative measure of sort? For example, people have mentioned that Utopmk talked a bit about death/suicide before he did his fake sucide note thing. If his message had been of true intent, and not been drowned out by all the noise, well. . . maybe the whole issue could have been avoided, or at least toned down.

But, that aside, I still think a free-rein type of section would be cool.

I think it would be interesting.. there is something similar on n-central.. I've barely looked at it, but I think it might be interesting.

Sounds like a good idea.

"A collection of tangents" could be the name of the forum. Or just stick to "INTP Journal." :)

We should call it 'the hairy thing', and when people ask us why we call it that, we should say: "because it has hair" and when they say: "but it doesn't HAVE any hair" we should just smile mysteriously and say: "it doesn't have any hair... yet".

That is what we should do.

The pub would suffice until/unless there were enough threads/interested people to start a whole new forum for it. So if you're eager to start, I say go for it.

haha well, i think many intps already have a blog. but if there's something like that here, i doubt i would ever update my regular blog again. no one reads my regular blog anyway. purely for self-gratification.

I love e/n threads. Other peoples problems make mine seem less significant.
