View Full Version : Would my 5w8 be considered as an INTP?

I notice that most INTP are 5w4 and 5w6.
I got mine as 5w8. At times I feel that can relate to w4 and w6.
But nonetheless I got mine as 5w8.
A very honest good friend of mine told me recently that sometimes, I might seem to others and even to him as intimidating and assertive. I get that alot without my intention.
I wonder how this works?
Cheers.

I was not aware that the wing system on the enneagram can be used with anything other than the adjacent two types. Which is to say that '5w8' is not admissible in that system. It's either Xw(X-1) or Xw(X+1).
The 5 and 8 are related, though. According to that system, a healthy 5 tends toward 8 behavior. Scroll down to Direction of Integration, here (http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/intro.asp#type).

i'm not very knowledgeable about the enneagram and am naturally skeptical, but i was recently introduced to the theory of tritypes that you may find useful.
i'm gonna quote a poster from another thread that's kinda long dead:
You're looking for the trifix/tritype (http://www.enneagram.net/tritype.html) concept. The idea is that the 9 types are divided into 3 head types (5-7), 3 gut types (8,9,1) and 3 heart types (2-4), and in reality, one's type is a combination since everyone uses all three intelligence centres and has a preferred point for each. So you are either a 5 with 9 gut fix or a 9 with 5 head fix.
within this "tritype" framework, i guess you could actually have an enneagram type that involves 8 as your "instinctive"/gut center, but would need to figure out your "heart" type to go along with your head, heart and gut.
it's kinda weird, though. i've also tested 8 on a few tests, but personally 548 would probably fit me best.
if you look around on the net you'll also find descriptions for all these splits and it's pretty insane, but if it works for some, hey.

there's also that.
