I don't clean much but the other day I cleaned the whole basement which took 2 days to make spotless. And 2 garbage bags full.
But after I was done boy its feels good to be in clean rooms.

Guess what. I can still see the floor, so it is not cleaning time yet. :D

FC, do you ever get to sort out the stuff you put 'temporarily' in boxes? I tend to put the box away and keep telling myself I will sort the stuff out later... few years later, it is still not late enough to do it. :D

What makes you put the boxes away ? They make perfectly good stands for towering piles of books and papers.

Oh, that's about what I meant with "away"; out of my attention, basically.

Yes, I have things in boxes that will be sorted through later. Drives my ESFJ wife crazy. She makes me actually put them in the closet or the Garage. They never get sorted. We have an entire dresser in our house that is full with all drawers with that kind of junk. One time we cleaned them out and put all of that stuff in a box for later, two days later all the drawers were filled with more junk that will get "sorted out later"

Stages of my life are measured in piles and boxes of "stuff."

2001? That's the year the box of clothes for the Goodwill sat in the corner of the garage, and I covered it in sawdust, which I finally got around to cleaning when we moved in 2003. That landlord was a putz, nice place though. Weird neighbors though. There was a kid that used to sit outside his bedroom window getting high and staring. I used to go out there and wave and say hi, but he never responded. He must've been 13 or 14. Hmmm..I wonder if he's out of high school yet. I wonder if he's institutionalized yet...

Anyways, you get the point.

" but those boxes that I have never opened since "the tidy up", well after quite a few years (or a house move) they are usually taken and thrown holus bolus to the local dump .... never even re-checking their contents again, figuring "if I haven't used anything from them over all this time, I don't need whatever is inside" ....

Sob, sob.

Never ever throw stuff away. It's just plain wrong.

mind you I have dumped some expensive Waterford crystal items this way in the past. :)

I'm tempted to say serve you right, but it doesn't. It's tragic. Remember though, deserted lofts where the sunlight skews down in tall shafts of dust-ridden light and dry old cellars with ashlared masonry still bearing the marks of the Roman builders, are your friends.

That's if one is lucky enough to own them of course.

( An' there may be books in those boxes ! People who destroy books don't go to Heaven. Which is why Purgatory's stuffed to the gills with meddling housewives and interior designers )

Let's just say that apart from general principles, I've had at least two 'incidents' with storage/removal people.

Some of the books, if not actually stolen and set free on the world again by those ****s, died and were literally irreplacable.

Those buggers are going to Hell; and in a more just & civilised world I would have been entitled to expediate their journeys.
