I went to this one website and took a Enneagram temperament sorter... I scored a 1 with a nine wing. Scared the shit out of me when it said that 1 types can mistype as 5's.
Could Temperaments be subject to moods and circumstance?

Did the test you took happen to be the one here: http://www.eclecticenergies.com/enneagram/test-2.php?
Because I got the exact same results, and I always score as a 5 on other tests. I don't take test results too seriously. I read the results and decide what I think fits me best *most* of the time, not just when I happen to be in a particular mood. I think that I have some traits of one, but as a whole I don't feel that I relate to that description the most.

Tests are not always accurate. Moods and circumstances could alter it, but not dramatically for an INTP. Read about the types, not just the traits (because they're misleading sometimes) but the fixations/core issues. Why do you not think you're a 1w9, btw?

Tests are usually never accurate, but I've noticed that is especially true with the Enneagram. The tests serve as an interesting introduction to the system, nothing more.
Grab a good Enneagram book (the type descriptions found on the net aren't detailed enough), read through all the type descriptions, and see which one fits. Only after doing that I could be sure I was a 5.

The enneagram is based on emotions, whereas the MBTI on cognition. This is one reason I find it laughable that many thinkers make ad honimem statements toward feeling types. Don Riso's book claims that all types can mistype themselves as others. Fives can mistype as nines, ones and threes as fives and so on. Helen Palmer says that you will usually get an overwhelming feeling when reading about certain types. I can understand the reasoning because the descriptions, especially surrounding childhood, usually gives me an indication. Point 4 does something to me that no other type does, but I know that it is not my type, just a component. Thus I am quite sure that I am 3w4 or 5w4.
