At the moment it's about 70%. I check "Who's online" regularly and it's always above at least 50%.

I find that strange. Then again, if the stereotype of the INTP is a lurker that can't summon the energy/motivation to post...

I Lurked here for months before becoming a user... And even once I did manage to create an account I continued to lurk for a few months...

What I do, is come here as a guest, open about 5-10 tabs (mozilla is cool) and decide if I want to reply. If I do, obviously I log in first http://forums.intpcentral.com/images/smilies/blushing.gif

An interesting thing about whosonline (http://forums.intpcentral.com/online.php?) is that it's delayed, like some kind of pictural representation of heismann's principle. IOW, I can usually find myself on that list, and it doesn't say 'viewing' it will say where I just was, such as 'searching forums' (that seems to be how even the last-post list shows up)

Weird and interesting stuff. You know, I bet there's some unintuitive information lurking amoung the statistics of this stuff that would be neat to know. Does anyone know any surprizing/interesting stats/correlations?

I don't understand how this is anything phobic? I'm just interested in weird stats. Or maybe I didnt register a joke (since I don't know who MM is refering to)?:S

Many, if not most, of the guests come from addresses numbered close to this sample:

68.142.249.73
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Yahoo! Slurp; http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/slurp)

Some of us would be happier if they'd actually picked up on Jemma of Tannum Sands rather more extensively.

Still, at least they're using Mozilla.

I once suggested we code against the microsoft search engine finding us...

What is registered user to guest traffic ratio?
on this site,, ,

By this, I wonder if you mean "lurker" or "invisible," for they are two entirely different modes.

For sure. Also I wonder how much % of traffic is "invisible"

I don't understand why people go invisible, esp. if they are posting.

why not? it's the internet.Kinda defeats the purpose of going invisible if you post, doesn't it?

For sure. Also I wonder how much % of traffic is "invisible"

right now there are 37 members logged on, 9 of them invisible. Its usually around that, about 25% invisible.

I dont understand it either but I suppose they have their reasons.

Also, a lot of the guests tend to be spiders.

Also, a lot of the guests tend to be spiders.

That is also interesting... While were digging to core stats here, does anyone know how many spiders are at work for google (for example?) is it only dependent on how fast the average connection speed is of the internet (with regards to how many they send out? Is there laws as to how many spiders can be sent out?
