View Full Version : My flu sucks

I've caught a cold, which means my head hurts, my throat is sore and my nose is like a waterfall. My eyes are also like waterfalls, and whenever I look outside, the bright sun hurts my poor little eyes. I'm tired but I can't sleep well because of the flu.
This sucks. I have a lecture (starting soon) I can't skip, so sitting at a lecture while being sick sucks. I also have an exam tomorrow, which will probably also suck some major balls.

We had a really bad flu hit my school, teachers and students sick and off school.
I caught it as well but in the beggining and got over it in about a week or two...now the syntoms seem to have gotten worse and people who catch it are really ill.
My grandmother has also caught one which landed her in hospital in part thanks to her smoking. but shes getting better now-however i may be forced to look after her for a week which means going to rotorua and cutting myself of from the net ect.

If you tell yourself you won't get sick, it will protect you.

I heard stuff like that before, something about how your ability to get sick is determined by your thoughts, I tried it one time, it worked for a bit and then I got sick anyway o.o
In my opinion, it's better to get sick and get over it because then you become stronger to other variations of the virus. Just drink lots of water...but I know what you mean, it sucks when you get sick and you have a Calc exam the next day...>.<

Actually, I have noticed that, and I had the same theory. Do you know anything that might back up this theory?
And my sympathy to NGene, while I have never had the flu, I am told it sucks.
Echinacea tea works wonders for me, if you can stomach it.

I hope you get better soon. Get as much sleep as you possibly can and hopefully you will feel better.

Someone mentioned pseudophedrine in another thread, which reminded me of last time I had the flu.
I had a bad case and had missed a couple days work. I really needed to go in the following day for an important meeting. Now usually I am one of these people who never bothers with any sort of medication, but I thought I would try some in this instance since I knew I would feel like crap at work.
Anyways, I selected a Tylenol cold and flu nightime formula at random. Popped a couple pills in the morning before heading to work and a couple hours later...WHOA!...I caught a significant buzz.
It was like my brain was wrapped in a warm, fluffy cloud. Sure took the edge off my flu symptoms I'll tell you that. :)
I'd never heard of pseudophedrine at the time, but considered this a wonderful happenstance.
Now these things affect different people in different ways (no one else I've talked to seems to be as enthusiastic about this stuff as I am), but if NGene has never tried it, she might want to find something with lots of pseudophedrine and give it a go. At least for the lecture, might want to stay a little more focused for the exam.

Echinacea works well for almost any illness, i got over glandular fever fast thanks to echinacea but i did not have the luxury of a tea, it was pure into my mouth from an eye dropper and it has to be one of the most bitter things i have ever tasted. But it sure is good for you

The mind/body feedback system works wonders, at times.
I wonder how effective it is if one tells themself such, but doesn't believe it.

then I would guess it wouldn't be very effective.. the mind has to believe to make it real.

Everyone who was taking the exam at the same time as I seemed to need tissues as well. :D I wasn't the only one sneezing and coughing and making brutal noises. :D
