I think it should be noted that Google Earth/Maps uses WGS72 and not the modern WGS84 so if you enter the precise coordinates (in WGS84) you get cca 1" of diff in Google Maps. And Google maps is used here http://intpcentral.com/?mode=map :P

I guess that kinda sucks, although not really too big of a deal. We could have built a way to determine a person's exact coordinates from their street address, but it was easier to do it this way, and city is specific enough. I don't think anyone wants to precisely point themselves out on a satellite map anyways. :P

So did I, but I just did it by trial and error. It wasn't too difficult once I got an idea of how for changing your latitude or longitude one decimal changed your distance on a map.

If all members were willing to be fitted with up-to-date GPS devices the information could be sent to the INTPC satellite and beamed down to the servers for instant transmission through the viewer's browser.

Unfortunately even then there'd be a few seconds delay from the last shown position.

That's a waste of resources for the majority of us on here who are as reclusive as me. :P

naah, i've used OZIExplorer + high-res aerial images :p (which has an option to change the coordinate systems, but defaults to WGS84)
and then Google Earth which i discovered that uses the old WGS72
