I was looking up some stuff for a motivation lesson, which led to a page on Abraham Maslowe, which led to a page about personality theories, which led to a page about Jung, which...
Anyway - you know that you cannot resist this  :

I'm actually looking for some validation so I can use this for free workshops. Most folks don't wanna fork out $25 just because their boss thinks it's a good idea to give it a shot :-)

My J and P are always pretty close, most times I am P, but at certain times I slide to J. N is a little lower then I thought and the T and I seem just about right.

That makes me an ISTP, as the cutoff is 42. Only, of course I'm not really. but I probably am better at Sensing than some iNtuitives.

I used to use HumanMetrics but the results are too far off from observed behavior. For example - I had a class that was clearly dominated by SJ Guardians but their Humanmetrics results were over 80% NF... I work with many of them and they are definitely not NF... I believe humanMetrics is far too iNtuitive biased (admittedly this is based on anecdotal evidence).
The Keirsey results are usually quite accurate but most folks want "all of the letters" (for free of course). I don't really blame them...

HOW ARE PEOPLE DERIVING NUMBERS LARGER THAN 35 WHEN EACH CATEGORY HAS 7 QUESTIONS X MAX SCORE 5 = MAX SCORE 35 DOESN'T IT?
Scott
I'd doubt each question is weighted the same (well, ok, they probably all are, but on a quality test, I wouldn't expect a uniform weight) Moreover, there must be some JavaScript on the page which alters the values that were entered (if you noticed the numbers change when you hit calculate), so the numbers you enter for the questions don't simply total up to form a raw score.
Another thing to consider is that the score starts at the middle (say, 42) and raises and lowers in relationship to your responses. Say one enters 5 for an extraverted question. Without actually analyzing the method, my best guess is that it subtracts 3 from the number entered (resulting in 2, which is in the range of -2 to 2), and adds that to the cumulative score (initially 42, possibly), yielding 44.
Ok, I'm wrong. I looked at the JS...
There are 14 questions for each factor. This is why the range for each pair starts at 14 (1 * 14). Because it scores in terms of E, S, T, and J, some of the questions' logic need to be inverted (and thus resulting in an inverted score). In the test, lower values of E (lower than 42) indicate introversion, whereas higher indicate extraversion. So, in reality, the max score for each is 14 * 5, or 70. (70 - 14) / 2 + 14 = 42 (the mid value).

Weak "S," but it's there. What's with the questions lumping "ideas" and "feelings" together into the same question? Not the same at all, so those questions confused me.

From my own analysis, I'm definitely an N person and my I/E preference is way closer to the center than the rest, which are all kind of extreme. So these results seem a bit off. I might have misunderstood some of the entries, though.

I think you are meant to read it as a scale where I, N, F and P are all "low" (if you below 42 in those categories you take one of those letters) and E, S, T, and J are all "high" (above 42).
So, it's not that you are weakly introverted. Your results suggest you are solidly introverted but not extremely so.

Jungian tests traditionally place you in a specific "pigeon hole." You can do this, too, like this:
If you scored above 42, choose the first of each pair (E, S, T, J)
If you scored below 42, choose the second of each pair (I, N, F, P)
If you scored exactly 42 -- it's just too close to call!

Careful with the test.
I got 49 for Thinking (high) and, as far as I know, I am a fully-fledged INFP (at least came out as such in most tests I took).
I guess some of the questions that were designed to measure the T/F dimension did not really measure how you approach life but rather how you think it should be approached.
"I prefer to deal with feelings rather than logic" - if I had two tasks to choose from - one dealing with feelings, the other one with logic, I'd choose the latter, for the very reason feelings aren't supposed to come into play there, and I know I am easily swayed by feelings when they do. So, my seemingly T preference is based on my actual F inclination.
"Sometimes one needs to be firm with others" - I gave it a 5. One definitely needs to - the more I live and keep losing on being too lenient with some the more I'm convinced about it. Harder to put this knowledge in practice, though.
