How y'all doin? Just got done taking a personality test, and I find out there are people out there just like me. It's a good thing to know.

Let's see, about me... I'm an MIS Manager for an event marketing company, which means I'm the only one that has any knowledge whatsoever of how to work something that has a power button. I have a college degree in Aerospace Engineering, but as you can see from the previous sentence, I'm not working in that field. The only reason I went that route is because it was the hardest major I could find at the college I went to. I spent 5 years at a junior college, going from studying accounting, then to business, and then on to engineering.

I am an extremely avid golfer. I worked at a golf course during college (it was only a job at the time, not an interest), and within two years broke par. I love golf because you can always get better, and I don't have to rely on someone else's performance to win or lose. And damnit, I'm good :-)

What I am not... I am not a teacher. I have neither the will nor the patience to teach people. I prefer to learn things on my own, and can't seem to understand why others can't do the same. I especially hate repeating myself. Don't mean to go off on a rant here, but if you have to ask me a question a second time, it means you were just wasting my time the first time you asked.

And now for my match.com profile: I love kids, football, golf, barbequeing, country music, beach bars and long walks with that special person. (Ok, the last one was a bunch of crap, but ya' never know who's reading.) In my apartment, you will find two desktop computers, one server and two laptops. In my closest there are two more computers, but they are not coming out any time soon. Don't think they are ready to take that step yet. (BTW, that was not a reference to my own sexuality. I like the bible version of what a couple should be, although I don't put much credence in the bible.)

Ok, I've rambled on enough, plus I'm at work and the owner is wondering why I am typing on my personal laptop and not my desktop.

Hmm... what can I say? Welcome to the forums, and on a side note, would it be an accurate guess that you use/prefer Linux?

Ah. I have now run out of non geek topics to talk about. Can someone else come in on this topic, please?

OK,

I'm going to have to take out MCSE Training Manual 70-215 and start reading out loud.

Lesson 1: Overview of Windows 2000 - This lesson introduces you to the family of Windows 2000 products, which includes....

I know how to take care of Linux bullies :-)

... some horribly buggy and expensive crap, such as SQL Server and IIS, which will never be patched properley because there's no money in it.

Whee! I love having arguments about Microsoft vs. Linux. I have them all the time with one of my friends.

It's too bad I lost my poking stick in the move.

Ah well, welcome. :)

I'm with you on the repeating myself issue - it drives me insane.

I'm not arguing about Linux vs. Windows, that would be a losing battle. I am just bringing out the garlic to ward off the vampires.

I learned Micro$oft since that's where the money is, at least the money that fills my wallet.

I don't blame you. I took some classes but, as usual, never finished (the MCSE thing).

True :D

Vampires? Where? *looks around wildly*

True, most people trust Microshaft for some reason, even though they shaft you with their software.

There's a beautiful letter from a Yank in the ( British ) Sunday Times, Computer section. It includes this gem:

Nobody has been forced to buy Microsoft's products, nor has anyone been defrauded.

In a blether of stuff about inalienable rights.

Actually...
