Work is work. Home is home. The two are mutually exclusive and any mingling between the two should be minimized.

I can't help it. So sue me.

It just makes things easier.

Doesn't that limit your creativity? Or does your job not require it?

I've rewritten this 5 times. I can't find a solid answer so I'll keep it short.

No, my mind goes where it needs to. And yes, it's required - I play many roles at work. Some of which I shouldn't but I do anyways, because competence is often not easily found.

But I don't want to rehash the forty-seven thousand things I thought about today when I don't have to. At the end of the day I just want to drop the facade and detach from the last 8-16 hours.

Perhaps, you mean you drop the accoutrement, and attempt to relax at home?

Sounds reasonable. On the other hand, actively not thinking about work would likely cause more stress.

You hit it right on. Once I get home I have a lax attitude about what happened at work. Ignoring it completely is not something I tend to do, but stepping away is.
