Um, hi. I'm Mnemosyne. I forgot to mention in the phobias thread that I have a fear of starting threads, so please be nice!
I'm almost 17 and I live in the incredibly interesting (snort) town of Peterboring, New Hampshire. I'm afraid of people, and that does include people I meet online *looks around warily*. But I enjoy performing in front of an audience. Go ahead and try to figure that one out. Just don't ask me for the answer.
I haven't actually taken the MBTI, so I don't know for sure that I'm an INTP, but I think it fits me better than any of the other personality types. And I've been reading some of the threads here and going, "Yes! Exactly! That's me!" so that might be saying something, too.
You all seem like really cool people. I'm glad I got a chance to be part of such an interesting group.

Never be afraid of us, child. Some here seem frightening, but we accept them for what they are.
Anyway, [ cautiously ], what sort of performing ?
And welcome. :D

Hee! Thanks for the greeting. I have done public speaking in the past, and I'm starting to get into acting. I had my first audition a couple weeks ago and didn't get cast, but oh well, it was a learning experience. And we all need those, right?

Welcome, none of us bite...as far as I am aware of ^_^
I am interested in directing plays some time in the near future, what is your favorite play? Or do you like modern stuff? Just wondering.

Whew, that's a relief (that you don't bite, I mean)!
That's cool that you want to try directing, Avengardh! I'm not bossy enough for that. My favorite traditional plays are Guys & Dolls and The Glass Menagerie. I also really liked Fully Committed (http://peterboroughplayers.com/a/2004/2004fully01.html), which is a one-man comedy that was put on by a local theater. I volunteered there this summer, and they let me see the shows for free. (Yay!)

Lol, no, I really am when I need to be...and I wonder how many years of study it takes for that O.O
Cool...I am a weirdo and like the old old plays like Midsummer Night's Dream and The Importance of Being Ernest, but I have been interested in theater since I directed a play for my local College, it was hard hard work, but it was really rewarding to see it all work out in the end ^_^

welcome to the board, I regularly attend a local "open mic" at a theater...
every saturday night at the southern theater, the Balls show begins. it's open to any and all performers who are given 5 to 7 minutes to do anything they choose -- whether music, performance art, comedy, poetry, so on and so forth... it also costs 5 dollars. I like to sit near the front and I have never gone to it by myself.. usually it's just me and one or more friends.

My school put on Midsummer Night's Dream last spring. I didn't try out, though, because I never heard about the auditions. Grr. I've seen (and read) the play before, and I liked it a lot. I also once saw this version of Comedy of Errors where the actors all wore 70's fashions and smoked cigarettes and stuff, and that was interesting, with the Shakespearean language.
file cabinet, that Balls show sounds like fun. Are most of the performers good, or are there a lot of duds? Do you ever get up and have a go?
Thanks for all the welcome messages, everyone! I feel loved! :)

usually the people that perform are local artists and they'll use Balls to try and show something new they're trying. there are also the people who are not 'real' performers and read their crummy poetry but for the most part it is pretty good. And every year during the Fringe Festival, which originated in Minnesota several years ago, for 4 weeks the Balls lineup are performers from the Fringe.
Balls is also a way for someone to get involved into the local scene for the performing arts... but it is an interesting look at the local scene.. there are a few artists who performed at Balls years ago and have even made it to hollywood but they're not anyone famous really... just ppl climbing the ladder. have you heard of "trick boxing" that is supposedly some famous performance that was done around the world and was created by some Balls regulars -- a husband and wife.

No but if I did I would want it to be something to do with human suffering and something the audience would never forget... think some screaming, crying blood and since it is never screened or censored I think it would be cool. I always wondered what would happen if someone committed suicide on stage.. there is the occasional nudity but not to the point of objectifying the human body. there is swearing though also.

Why not be the very first to commit suicide on the Internet ?

I heard about a guy who died while on his webcam although it was drug related.
