View Full Version : Ban Shaytana

She wants to police you all on her opinions. That's ok for those who are equally PC and wish to see the mature threads being banned, swearing, et al.

For the rest of us, 'normal' people who aren't easily offended and scared by 'trolls' like shaytana, vote to ban her.

It's as logical as 'Edwin'. There is no space and you just assume that they are two words, when really it is just the first 5 letters of a screen name. I should on that basis call you shayt (sometimes pronounced 'shite' other times 'shat').

Dear "EdwinJefferson" :

It's such a shame that you are mistaken about the nature of this forum. The purpose of this forum is *not* to ban people for their opinions or stances on subjects; it is to encourage free thought and exchange of ideas.

It's also such a shame that you have so much self-hatred that you choose to humiliate yourself by posting shallow "LET'S BAN XX" posts. I vote to ban you, since you appear to be the epitome of pathetic. Clearly, you have something against open minds . . . Clearly you have the IQ of my toaster.

I would feel sorry for you, but that would just take too much energy. So, in the meantime, I'll just eat popcorn while I watch you. . . the sad little manic monkey . . . eat bananas.

I have no respect for stupid toasters and manic monkeys . . . and I have even less respect for people who insult shaytana and who despise Morrissey.

Love and kisses, :smooch:

I think Edwin is pretty funny, so I am going to defend him. This thread is just a joke about how Ghosteh was banned. I think we all have a pretty good opportunity here to voice our opinions and carry on, what we usually consider to be pretty meaningful debate.

However, I think our little "home" here is a lot different from the rest of the internet because we do have a lot of freedom to say what we wish without someone jumping down our throats. Unfortunately, our precious peace has to be protected from time to time. This Ghosteh was a real pain in the ass. I don't think he/she lasted 12 hours on the board. Why? Because of threads like "This forum is a shithole" (paraphrasing).

I respect other people's right to speak. To an extent. I don't think people should be able to come on here and just trash everyone for trashings sake. It is only fun for them and not so much for the rest of us.

As for Edwin, he was just playing around, so let's ban shaytana and get on with it. hee hee.

False; 'Edwin' is a far more logical name for you than than 'yta' is for shaytana. Even you admitted a reason why it would be logical; you just ignored it. As words generally aren't capitalized, caps in the middle of a word make the word stand out into two parts. And as Edwin is a valid first name, and Jefferson is a valid last name, it stands to reason that Edwin might be a first name. And even if not, it is very easy to see that it appears to be playing that role in your forum name. And even in the unlikely circumstance that it isn't, there is a set of clear logical reasons why it would be viewed as such (which I just spelled out.)

And, yes, shayte is more logical of a name for shaytana; it's obvious where the hell it came from, for one (it's a shortening of the name). However, where your forum name is clearly delineated into two parts by capital letters, shaytana's name isn't. In fact, it looks (to a normal English speaker), to be one word. Splitting it up by syllable may be logical, but less obvious than splitting your name up by capital letters. And yta isn't even a syllable. In fact, it looks more like random letters than part of her name; you generally have to look closely to see that, yes, those letters appear in that order in her name.

In short, you're being difficult on purpose (or so it seems), and you are making untrue statements.

Dear IndieJade (if that is in fact your real screenname),

It is a shame that you wish to be a bully, and you get away with it, is it not?

Think about it this way. I say a point. Vagabond attacks what I say, I respond, and Shaytana and her go on about how I'm saying something completely different. None of that matters though, as it is just between us. I create a thread at the request of shaytana, and it's strange to see people grouping together to bully me, on the count of starting a thread called ban shaytana (which she actually said to put up).

Now, since you have already come to conclusions before you have heard both sides, I won't care what you say.

This reply is only because I have time to kill.

E.J.

P.S. Do you think I visited this forum to gain your respect? Is that why you came here? To gain people's respect? Or was it to challenge things, to discuss.. and so on.

Well, nobody who saw this thread necessarily knew that it was created at the request of saytana, and was for a discussion between the two of you. On the other hand:

She wants to police you all on her opinions. That's ok for those who are equally PC and wish to see the mature threads being banned, swearing, et al.

This makes it sound like you're trying to get *our* opinion on the matter, that you're trying to convince *us*. *Not* that you're trying to have a discussion with saytana.

Regardless, the first impression when one sees this thread is that you're responding to the problem with the banning of whatsisface in a childish way. One assumes it's merely childish, because if you actually wanted to ban saytana, you'd hypocritically be going against your previously stated opinions that you were against banning. And probably better a childish person than a hypocrite.

And I think the conclusions that people have generated have been from reading the posts posted, and deciding off of that. If not all sides have been fairly represented, feel free to convince us. I think most of us believe in the "truth", and would like to see opposing viewpoints if they help get us closer to that. Also, from what I've seen, there is plenty of evidence existant with which to base temporary conclusions.

In short, and bluntly, I think you're being childish and petty.

To start this, here is a quote by matthew0028:

My avatar is Goombella, a character from Nintendo's new "Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door."

Immature and childish avatar, can tell a lot about the person from the avatar they choose.

Well, nobody who saw this thread necessarily knew that it was created at the request of saytana, and was for a discussion between the two of you. On the other hand:

She wants to police you all on her opinions. That's ok for those who are equally PC and wish to see the mature threads being banned, swearing, et al.

I would not call it a discussion. I would call it her accusing me of saying things I didn't say, and me responding.

If you read this thread, surely you should have thought 'why out of the blue?' - everything has a reason, and gone and looked at my previous posts. That is what I would have done, instead of going 'oh this must be all the facts presented to me on a plate with some nice salad'.

This makes it sound like you're trying to get *our* opinion on the matter, that you're trying to convince *us*. *Not* that you're trying to have a discussion with saytana.

Never been one of those people who speaks to a fake audience in an argument? or maybe I really did want people to say 'yeah.. ban her'.

Stupid stupid stupid.. look. When did I say it was a discussion between me and yta? Don't ask questions from assumptions.

Regardless, the first impression when one sees this thread is that you're responding to the problem with the banning of whatsisface in a childish way. One assumes it's merely childish, because if you actually wanted to ban saytana, you'd hypocritically be going against your previously stated opinions that you were against banning. No dear child, I am not being hypocritical, I am doing what is know as 'taking the piss' out of a bunch of people. I'm not sure if I'm one of those people or not, but you're on the list. Since you have decided that it's childish to prove a point about freedom of speech and censorship, but it's quite ok to have a character from a game for children as your avatar.

'Excuse my editorial laugh - ha ha ha!'

And I think the conclusions that people have generated have been from reading the posts posted, and deciding off of that. If not all sides have been fairly represented, feel free to convince us. What are you talking about? Do you realise that that is bullshit?

I do not need to my prove myself to anyone, least of all you and your cronies.

I know I am justified, and I know that people like you will always try to make fools of anyone who you disagree with.

In short, and bluntly, I think you're being childish and petty.

I've thought that of you for a long time...

Perhaps I should create a list of people who I like on this forum, and those I dislike can just fuck off since if someone here dislikes someone that means they should be banned.

But, that isn't what happened. If someone doesn't like someone they can put them on the ignore list. If everyone doesn't like someone they get banned. Or if everyone but Shai Gar doesn't like someone they still get banned.

I think the difference, say in this case, is that you are providing a somewhat reasonable discourse here. You have a point and you want people to hear that. To get banned, most people would have to agree that someone doesn't have a point.

But it isn't everyone, which is what I'm trying to slowly make people realise (but keep forgetting to bring up since people start saying 'you have a big fat nose and I hate you').

[This post is half-arsed and I apologise for it.. I'm trying to watch the Welsh channel since Gruff Rhys from the Super Furry Animals will be on.. but I can't speak Welsh so I haven't a clue what they're saying.]

Those who are here, have a point in being here. No one finds themselves forced by Russian spies with guns who are camoflauged against the wallpaper, to stay against their own will. They want to be here for a reason. Ghosteh wants to be here to annoy people, and he achieved that. He can go away happy and feel that everyone here wants to be 'fragile little snowflakes' and someone abusive can belittle us all.

If he was ignored he would have failed.

We are judgmental, but I would hope that it is in a polite way.

For example, when we lash out because we disagree with someone it's because we are scared that we will be wrong. That really kills us, being wrong. So we argue until death not to be wrong.

I can vouch that it is something that drives NFs nuts, but the abstract thought we share can be rewarding.
