I was assigned by my religions teacher to dedicate an hour to the meaning of life...and although I love reading about the subject, I have absolutely nooo idea how to talk about it for an hour
and considering half of my class is only interested in boys, clothes and make-up, how would any of you handle this? all suggestions are welcome :)

 Wikipedia rocks. From the link: "I may be a pretty sad person, but I don't make jokes in base 13." Douglas Adams

This would be a heavy assignment for anyone at any age, Ellen*. I would start by throwing down whatever came to me about the things I love and just let things come out on paper (or whatever method you're using to trace your thoughts). Maybe in the beginning or end of my effort I would justify my babbling by saying that the meaning of life is to find one's own passion, and that everyone has it within them to discover. It seemed, at least, to work for Joseph Campbell.

Good luck! :sombrero:

Making a brainstorm around the meaning and talk about the sub-meanings for most of the class before talking about the meaning.

See this poo, its brown and sometimes green. Sometimes has corn or bubble gum, even blue berries. Sometimes a liquid type or very hard. There are big piles and smaller piles. Some poo stinks more than the other. Cows poo, humans poo, dogs poo and many eat differnt things. No matter how different we eat the poo is always there. Because the meaning of all this talk to to explain that we all have assholes for the poo to come out of.

I just  love  wikipedia! :D
After discussing with my friend (we're doing the presentation with two), we decided to discuss some different aspects of the meaning of life: namely how the bible sees it, how atheists see it, how science sees it ect. I'd also really love to talk about how 'real' reality actually is. Actually I have no trouble talking about the subject, my only corcern is the average intelligence level of my class.. .
And yes the subject may be very abstract, but finally I got an assignment that is an actual challenge for me. Beats talking about love and friendship to 16-year olds :D go figure...

Use it as a act of rebellion against the silly notions of your classmates
Show them how vapid and inane their life points is

REBEL GIRL REBEL!!!

Note to reader: always take posts with manic crazed laughter with a pinch of salt and also scan for sarcasm.

Stand in front of the class saying "42" every 10 seconds. Repeat 180 times.

what a crazy assignment, if you are going to talk about how real reality is you could include some of the interesting things from here
www.simulation-argument.com/
did you know it is a 1 in 50 chance we are simulated and living inside a simulation? you may ask how they come to that conclusion-have a look.

Try to come up with some quotes that would catch the attention of different personality types so if that one sentence gets thier attention they are likely to listen more.
