I am. I love nothing more than seeing smug, arrogant, corrupt politicians eat shit and get taken down by someone who has the guts to challenge them. It's even sweeter when it's someone who pushes a radical agenda for a small group of people. Going to be very interesting to see what happens to him and all the other power brokers in DC who are getting nailed for their behavior. Perhaps Bush winning last year was actually a "good" thing....

If the indictment is true, then absolutely. I don't really see it as just a partisan attack, as is being portrayed. It does look like laws were broken, and for that there should be consequences.

Having said that, the whole TX redistricting was just a power grab. I was disgusted by it, even though it wasn't in itself deemed to be illegal.

I don't think it is partisan either . The guy has taken down more Dems as district attorney and I don't think an indictment would have come down if he was clean. But, given someone so "powerful" and arrogant, I expect some pretty harsh accustations to come from DeLay. It's like cornering a rabid racoon.

The Texas redistricting was brilliant politiking, even though it was disguting. Hopefully, some day, that can be reversed.

Amen!

Sue, the indictment is very, very true, and it's been a long time coming. Prosecutor Ronnie Earle caught all the little fish (and some big ones, like the Sears corporation) before making an overt move against Mr. Big. Earle has a lot of experience prosecuting corrupt politicians and I'm sure he prepared his case carefully.

Yep. Second terms are always full of scandals. Always. It usually takes time for the shady stuff that was done during the first term to come out. Also, two-term presidents get too cocky (in Clinton's case, literally).

It amuses me that W's presidency has attracted some retrospective attention to his father's administration that he would rather not have. Funny, when GHWB was president I read nothing about how the Bush family operate like WASP mafiosi, or that "matronly" Barbara Bush was using booyalab's avatar before booyalab was born. ;)

Many successful corrupt politicians (and robber barons too) exploited the holes in the law. They had the ingenuity to invent sleazy practices and cash in on them before they were made illegal.

DeLay slipped up on this one.

Always happy to see one of the fat cats go down. Must be my utter contempt for authority.

Yeah - I know the feeling - the underdog always gets my support.

I actually quite enjoy the whole "partisan witch hunt" rhetoric. I'm sure DeLay was one of the first people in line "searching for the truth" when it was Clinton's balls that were in a vice.

I think the best part will be watching Bush try and distance himself from DeLay after the conviction. Or he'll pardon him, who knows.

i'd love to see it, but won't be satisfied until rove is executed for treason and bush is impeached. all three and my faith might be restored in government.
