How many INTP's do you know in Real Life. Not on your messenger or online but those you actually know in real life?

I know 2 or 3. I'm sure (as a INTP can be) about 2 of them being INTP's but theirs one person in my class who's too... introverted to know for sure.

One for sure, probably a second, and one more I would like to find out that they are an INTP so I could start a discussion with them and possibly know them better (also far too introverted for me to be sure).

When I saw the title of this thread ("How many INTP's..."), my immediate reaction was "Fourteen and one half!", then I read the question and discovered that it wasn't asking how many it would take to screw in a light bulb...

PaladinofLunaria is a friend of mine, and my mother. I haven't really tested many people I know, though.

One male, one female.

One of them was my friend, the female one, but I don't really get along with her that well. The guy talks to me more online than offline, but he is younger so that could be it.

Everyone else is too introverted, or maybe it's just me :d

I worked with one. I was reading the James description and asked if the other two people in the office wanted to taked the test. He bought it and tested INTP. Nice guy. :)

The other was an ENFJ, and merely encouraged us to learn from it. :D

1 to screw it, one to partially partake in the experience, and the other 13 to question whether or not it *really* happened?

I think there's a few at work, but then again that's what happens when you work for a tech company... either way, I almost never associate with them except on a professional basis.

I am trying to think back to high school... I might have known 1 or 2. Can't tell really. One friend of mine who I thought might've been an INTP is actually an INFP, and come to think of it, that makes sense anyway.

I think my high school history teacher was one. And I guy I went to school with was one. That's it. But there's this girl I saw last week who looks and acts like one, so I'll be giving her the test. I'll ask her out if she is one. I mean, I'll just end up staring at her thinking to myself.

I know a former coworker (male) that thinks about type a lot and has a lot to add to MBTI discussions. I work with a woman now that says she is and seems to be, but she's not nearly as interested in it as I am. We don't discuss the intricacies of type, but we do notice similar quirks.

I wish I knew more iNtuitives in general.

I don't know the specifics for most people but I think most of my friends are NT's. Of the people who have taken a test that I know the results:
One INTJ, one ENTJ (frat brothers), one ESTJ (roommate), and one ENFP (mother).

I need to get more people to take the test but I feel I would be annoying them. I think my father is INTP but he hasn't taken the test I've given him yet.

Whoever said that I was doing the intentional changing? It's the perception of others that causes the chameleon tendencies. Even when you have no interest in playing the game, you're playing the game.

You don't act the part. My understanding is the chameleon is the perception that others have, i.e, those not knowing you may consider you extraverted, others may consider you SJ, and others NF. It's not your changing intentionally, but since it's hard to know what INTPs are truly like, even with intimates, they appear to change.

I have a good idea of how I am perceived by others. There's no way in hell I'd ever be considered an extravert, so that's out of the question. The chances of being perceived as a feeler are below one percent. I mean...would you consider Hitler a feeler?
Even if the effect is not intentional, I am aware of my actions and how I act toward certain people; that is, everyone is treated the same here.

INTPs dislike making the first move and tend to mirror the emotional content of the other person. A jolly person will quickly bring the INTP out of his shell, as much as that is possible, while a serious person will find a serious INTP looking back at him. In this sense, INTPs preference for intuitive perception (rather than action) with respect to people results in them resembling a chameleon. The INTP can fit into many different modes of behaviour, even contradictory ones, in order to get into the mindset of the other person. The goal is to gain enough intuitive data to analyse and assess the person. In doing this, the INTP remains somewhat reserved, never wholly identifying himself with his surroundings. As chameleons, INTPs are therefore approachable and open, unless the Ne tells the INTP that the other person is a type he doesn't like, in which case the reserved attitude may become too obvious.

It seems to me that the chameleon affect is based more on the INTP than the perception of the other.
Granted, the description is pretty inaccurate for myself. "Approachable and open" ? Hah!

'nerdy' is a stereotype . . . I would bet that more than half of the cliched star trek nerds are ISTX.

so no, I wasn't a 'nerd' . . . I played soccer and golf and was on the swim team for a year - how you correlate sports w/automatic sp is beyond me. sure, I played sports -- I even made fun of the nerds -- but I didn't exactly fit the typical 'jock' sp. yeah I was prob considered absentminded at times - I see this as a core characteristic of intps so if you don't think this fits you then ya might look elsewhere . . . it's really not like an intp to read a description and immediately assume its true anyway.

and no, I don't find myself mirroring people. I'm typically withdrawn and reserved until I've deemed a person worthy of seeing my true self (or part of it, at least). and then I don't mirror them, I do wot I want. mirroring seems idiotic and ingenuous and I tend to think phony people suck.

I must have been lucky, or I've simply chosen the right places to be...
My father is an INTP, and I'm fairly certain that two of my high school classmates were INTPs. At my last job, we were no less that three INTPs out of 12 people in my department (not surprising; they simply rounded up all the nerds in a large company and locked them up in one department). I'm fairly sure one of my current University teachers is INTP too.

That said, I've never met another female INTP...I wasn't even sure they existed until I joined this place.

hang on a second friend. Before thinking this is "phony", do yourself a favor and take your own advice and "read a description" of yourself. I have notice that my appearance does mirror the other but it doesn't mean I am a conformist. I still have my thoughts and beliefs but its just a natural thing for me to smile at a happy person or stare blankly at a serious person. I don't see how you can think of this as "phony". You have contradicted your own post several times from my outside perspective.

I'm fairly sure I don't know any in real life. Actually I don't know any online either, unless you count the people at this website, which I don't, because I don't talk to anyone here. But then, maybe I *should* count the people here. Wow, what a confused thought...

And on second (or maybe third) thought, I have a cousin that might be intp. I'll have to familiarize myself a bit more with the categories and their criteria, and then observe him while eating turkey at Christmas to make a thorough diagnosis.

To be fair, I am just guessing. I read a book (TypeTalk) that gave pointers for quick typing, and so now it has become habit to come up with at leas a preliminary guess about nearly everybody. I have no expectation that I am discerning their True Inner Selves, but I'm making an educated guess that helps me decide how best to get along with that person. MBTI is a useful matrix for getting to know people, at least for a J like me. It's simply a method of sorting. ("Huh. She likes to have a plan for how a conversation is going to proceed. That's really J." "Gee, he's reading me all the road signs. I'm guessing E.")

I have one INTP friend, most are ENTJ or INTJ. But the thing is, is that they all (minus one) test fairly low for all the functions (20%-50%).

I roleplay with three INTPs every week. The priest I work under at my church is an INTP, and my novice guardian (Fransiscan Order) is one as well as a couple of others in the Order. I know four monks who are definitely and three or four more who might be - that is, I suspect it, but they haven't done the test. My best friend sometimes tests as INTP, sometimes as INTJ, he says it depends how confident and cocky he's feeling at the time he takes the test. And my dad's one, and my daughter's too young to say for certain, but seems to be heading that way.

The librarian I work under at the cathedral has tested as INTP.

So all together I think probably about erm, at least 16. Makes me wonder what I'm doing different to you guys...!?
