Hello fellow INTP's,

I discovered I was INTP almost 2 years ago, although I only really investigated it more indepth this year.

I have spent a great deal of time testing the traits & descriptions of an intp to be certain I found the right one. I think I'm done testing it now, and I'm happy to find so many like minded thinkers.

Hello.

Why did you spend so long determining if intp was the right type? What other types did you consider along the way?

Hello.

Why did you spend so long determining if intp was the right type? What other types did you consider along the way?I was very distracted at the time. In the past year I have been looking to find a new career I might enjoy... for awhile. It then became a priority to find a fit for my personality.

hi Greenintp...are you envious, or lacking experience? :-P

Does anyone else find it ironic that so many people (including myself) who are supposedly "ultra-independant," "rebellious of type-casting," "strongly Individualistic," "largely solitary" and "predisposed toward the non-social or even anti-social tendency" find it to be such a positive experience to find others like themselves, and thus conform to a nonconformist group?
Maybe start a thread on it....

interesting interpretation.

However I'm going to assert that the relief comes from knowing that there are other people who can carry on indeapth analytical conversations, have intelligent arguments and not get their shorts in a knot.

Since I don't really care if I fit in to social customs & trends, I believe that fairly independent/self reliant. I do however like intelligent discussions with others and it seems to be hard to find.

In making your assertion, you have stated the exact point.
Intelligent conversations with other people is still a social endeavor.
If mental stimulation was the solitary goal, there are many books to read.

Pardon me, I'm just spouting random thoughts.
I think I'll reprimand myself now, before I come across as rude.
Confound it! Don't analyze EVERYTHING!

I don't believe I said I was socially inept (I consider my self to be a socially developed intp). I do however find large gathering and even smaller gatherings of people I don't know... stressful.. I don't seek out just anyone. I want to speak with people who are capable of testing ideas and theories (I can only go so far on this alone). I do read alot but then it's nice to debate the new information. I think it's important to test the strength of a new idea.

Hello and welcome :]

I did the same thing...before I decided to actually post in the forum (the old one) I looked and made sure I was an intp, mainly because I had been typed as an INTJ when I was a junior in HS. The INTJ profile didn't really fit here and there, but INTP is just really close to home ^_^

Welcome. It IS nice to be able to discuss things without everyone getting their panties in a wad.

Oh, Canada....

Have you ever watched Degrassi? I used to watch Degrassi Junior High "back in the day." It takes place and is filmed in Canada. (The new one is shown on Noggin channel in the States.)

Pull up a chair and tell us more.

Well maybe I would; except I don't wear those things.
Far too restrictive for a male, I'd say.

My grandparent's were of Pickering before they died.

You're not "refering" home security systems in Pickering, are you? :D

potential customers, in order to provide referrals to them I have to know their business & reputation.

I also have to be on the look out for ways to reach the people who I would be referring in the first place.

Any suggestions?

so you qualify leads?... if you don't have those skills you will only gain them time. It doesn't sound like very much investigative work. just a few probing questions then you find out if the potential is qualified. personally, I don't think your job sounds like it will get anywhere unless you have the people skills.

Fortunately, my people skills are fairly well developed. Mirroring ability in invaluable. I promoted my previous business through large trade shows (over a 5 year period). Did however highly value my alone time to recharge.

I think there are some other business people on the board although not necessarily directly involved in sales. maybe post in the pub to find out.
