What do you think about contacting each other through AIM, MSN, Yahoo, etc.?

Well yes I'm interested. Actually I already do it.

I have IM'd, aside from a tech./mod. question, with only one person on this forum. But, I like to try to keep the conversations in the forum.

I talk on a daily basis to several members...

Spooky.
When I IM'd you, I considered it a tech. question. :)

I have before, but now I want psychological diversity. For example, when I had a close INFJ female friend, I learned SO much, and my Feeling function bloomed (well, relative to before). There are clashes/confusions, but I think it's so worth it in the long-run to be as involved with all the other types as with INTPs.

This board lets me affiliate with INTPs, so AIM (etc.) can be devoted to other contacts --

Yes, but then, that's why I go into the IRC chat.. though it may not be as personal with more than one other person there. *Shrugs*

I've noticed that there are a couple of threads pertaining to this, seems to me we're just too chicken to jump in and IM someone ;P (since a lot of us have our contact info posted in our profiles)

Interested also.

/me has only local friends and family on his MSN, with a few exceptions.

It would be interesting to 'talk' rather than just reply to the poll of the day together ;P

and, my contact list is about the same as Odd One's ... family and local friends (and a couple exceptions).

My contact list is huge and full of people I usually never speak to....from the english and dtuch, to israelis and australians....

I don't know if I would or not. I suppose I would be up for it :)

Actually, I tend to have all nighters when it's a one on one conversation with someone I click with.

I'll talk to anyone who will talk to me. Gimme a buzz sometime, and lemme know who ye be.

AIM I am on all the time but use for communicating with other groups (work/locals/etc.), but the IRC chat here is my preferred way of interacting with my fellow intuitive thinkers.

I've IM'd at least 8-10 different people from the board. I get along with some better than others. The ones who aren't receptive to being IM'ed, I tend to stop talking with them. I figure there's a certain range(30-50%?) of people I'll get along with on the board. I am not going to magically get along with someone just because he/she is an INTP.

Why would you not stop talking to the ones who don't want to be talked to? Or was that a typo?

I don't mind, but I'm not good at coming up with conversations and I have trouble keeping up when multiple people talk to me. That's why I never use the chatroom.

Most of the people on my contact list are people I've met in person and family. I mostly talk to the rest about music interests, and/or to set up music trading/sharing (at least when I have high speed internet). That's the only reason I added anyone that I haven't met other than a couple NTs I've talked to since I joined this forum.

Added a bunch of intp girls :}

I talk to a few others, some of them I get along with better than others, but I am not really hard to get along with. I learned early to pass as an E online and offline thanks to my parents...so...there you have it.
I do appreciate interesting/deep conversation though, if not...I can't really be forced to talk, no one can.

I don't have an IM acct and never seen one in action, so I don't know the great advantages of using one over just e-mailing someone.

My current problems with communicating w/people stem from timing. Like, when I'm busy is when I'll get the phone call  or when I'm feeling "chatty", no one's around. :(

I do sometimes wonder if my posts are as off putting to others as some of the other posts that have been barfulous to me. Overall, though, I'd probably enjoy "talking" on a more personal level with people in this forum. ;) Actually wish everyone wasn't spread out so far because I think getting together or hanging out every once in a while would be fun.  ;P

Probably just as well for the distance, there are a few women in this forum who I know, I KNOW!, their name spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E,   but what I'd give for just the chance to play heartslayer.

I suppose this would give me a reason to try IM. May be one of those things I either fought getting or didn't see the attraction and then once I did, couldn't believe I survived without. :o  Is any one service better than another? :thumbdow:

Aim seems to work pretty well... and Yim isn't too bad... it really depends on what the people you want to talk to are using. Are we feeling a mite smiley today?

Is any one service better than another?

Aol Instant Messenger isn't my favorite or what I consider "the best", but in my experience it is what most other people use. I mainly use it just because everyone else does.

s
28 Sep 2004, 10:50 PM
I used to use aol, then everyone seemed to have stopped using it--then again I know a lot of people who are only allowed to use Yahoo products at work.

I find that I get along smashingly with evolved, relatively stable, and intelligent true INTPs.

INTJ's are great fun to chat and debate with, but only when they are intelligent and good sports.

The only people I've talked to on AIM are File cabinet and Utopmk, and both times they IMed me, not the other way around.

I suppose I should probably add you guys to my buddy list, though. Just in case I have a sudden urge to IM you.

Its fun to glance at the fresh list of names from this forum. Sometimes the name is unfamiliar, I'll think: who's that? Like roybently, what a mysterious person, yet frequently on. Or maybe it's a long time regular who's replies I look forward to, then I'll think: hmmmmm, I'll just keep glancing, keep safe.
