Don't ever think too hard about eating eggs, then.

yeah, i thought my self right out of eating eggs for same reason.

they are these little bags of primordial goo which contain all the stuff you need to make... a tiny chicken!

i look at the runny yoke dripping off my toast and nearly hurl half the time.

as far as over analyzing goes, dont start on necessary stuff.
like food and air and drugs!

Ok, I'm sure noone is really worried about this but I'm going to say it anyway for those who are grossed out because they think they're eating chicken fetuses. Chicken eggs don't contain everything to make a baby chicken. Chickens produce eggs whether they're fertilized or not. In a commercial enviroment where eggs are produced, the hens usually don't have boyfriends. The only thing that's in that egg is a bit of the hen's genes, but it's mostly just the nutrients the baby needs to grow since it won't be in the mom's body. That's why eggs are such a protein rich food with good vitamin content.

The key word is "usually" don't have boyfriends. Small comfort for those us who have gotten that ONE fertilized egg (complete with tiny bloody chicken) cracked into an omelet.:blink:

I don't see how that would be possible unless they were some kind of free range eggs where the hens were allowed to sit on the eggs. Even if the eggs are fertilized, nothing will develop unless they're kept at a very warm temp for a steady period. If that's the case I'd be most worried about the conditions the eggs were kept in.

*shrug* Personally I don't care if I'm eating underdeveloped baby chickens or something with sperm in it, as long as it tastes good.

Mmm, fried protein! Who cares what it was five minutes ago? As long as it's been cooked, it's good.
