so I will be gone from the 28th til Oct 4th. It's some bullshit father-son bonding thing I'm going on(cries out for help). He said we're going to go to all the 'hotspots'-- tourist traps.
and.. sarasota looks sort of safe from hurricanes:

on an unrelated note.. did anyone from the board go missing during Ivan/Jeanne? I know there's a few Floridians on the board.....

Sneak a sharp object on board and write an expose about it afterwards.

I love going places where the security guards keep changing their minds on protocol.
*metal detector sounds*
S.G.: "Please step back through and remove your belt."
Me: *fumbles*
S.G.: "Why are you removing your belt? Who told you to do that? Please step through, you are holding up the line..."

Wear tennis shoes, and socks so you don't have to walk barefoot thru that metal detector thing, because your feet can get fungus easily from everyone elses feet.

Bring a backpack with snacks, crossword puzzles for the plane with gum, decongestant tabs to take before you get on the plane, (ears pop or don't pop when they are supposed to). Bring water, peanut butter crackers, hard crusty french bread with fancy deli meat, and an orange. And...a dark travel sweater, and a map of where you are going with some idea of what to do when you get there. And way more money than you think you need.

If its Delta, they charge for meals, upwards of 6.50 for brkst, 11.50 for lunch. They get delayed and leave you stranded on the runway with no food. So pack food and drinks and gum. A rolling carry on less than 22". & Quarters and dollars in your pocket for tips to cabs.
