I'm working on a writeup for Tippett and A Child of Our Times. As I've been doing a little digging on Tippett the man as well as composer, I was interested in knowing how large the impact of his participation with the PPU was, and any "insider" info that would be interesting to read on the matter that isn't available on the PPU website.

For the record, his participation in the Communist Party and his sexual life will not be offered in my writeup. It's entirely about selling a great performance to an otherwise oblivious and pro-American public. Those more controversial things get discussed at the after parties...

Thanks for your help... :sombrero:

Alas ( I'm assuming you mean Sir Michael ), I've never heard a note of his music: something like Benjamin Brittain ? Also, I know some people like acronyms, but you could care to be a little more explicit ? I'm gonna make another wild guess & think pacifist = Peace, U = Union, and this being the 1940s or whenever: P = Peoples'. Peoples' Peace Union ? GB or USA ?

Saw a few books on pacifists recently, but can't recall Tippett. Mind you I skipped, I'm not that interested in history after the Ardennes Offensive*. But, they, like I, object to mass bombing: which is nice.

You might like to spell it out in more detail.

* And strictly, not really anything after 1918, when the demons won.

Yes, Sir Michael Tippett. Please forgive my oversight.

Beyond Wikipedia, this is the source doo I've shoveled:

If you run into anything of interest that goes beyond what these sites reveal, feel free to share! :sombrero:
