Is there anybody out there who majored/is majoring in this in college? I've heard it is good prep for just about anything. Seems like one would become very good with language. What about career paths you have taken? Hopefully there are at least one or two INTPs out there who have gone in this direction. Please respond to this non-programmer INTP.

All I can tell you is that Latin is very difficult to figure out.

Latin is not difficult! Latin is easy; it's just a bunch of rules to memorize.

The classics are pretty good; I'm a fan. I think the normal route is lib arts > grad school > career in academia, though you can do just about anything, depending on what you do in grad school.

I took Latin all through high school. Thought about continuing. But didn't.

And, yes, learning Latin increased my grammatical skills (in English!) dramatically.

Yeah. I'm in a intro latin course right now. I like it and I find it fairly easy and interesting. I've always been interested in foreign languages (the translating part, not the speaking). I did a little investigating: MADRIGAL, you were a translator once, yes? I would love to know why you thought it sucked.

I never studied languages pre se - but I did look into learning a few - never have the time though. I now see it as a key to learning how to solve puzzles like old fashion cryptography and shit like that.
