View Full Version : Missing Words

For some years now, probably about 5-6, I have had this problem with writing. Sometimes I can write just fine, other times when I am not motivated, it's very sloppy as I miss words and get a lot of the grammer wrong. I have noticed that when I have been writing code for a while, this is especially the case. Anyone have any type of similar experience or is it just me?

I do too... I have to read and re-reread everything - writing code does not help as we tend to write the same meaning in less verbage.

I usually have problems making sense when writing because my brain goes too fast for my mouth, my hands haven't got a chance!!!
Also the mind wanders and I find myself thinking about something other than what I'm typing, well at least until my brain gets confused and I start typing it!
I also used to write just the first letter of some words, as though I didn't have time for the full word.
My only solution was to slow down my thinking by being more thorough with my thoughts and so I'd get to the next bit slower giving everything else chance to catch up. Either that or I'd figure it out and then write it with either flourishes in posh english or , when hand writing, fancy script. I think that its improved my handwriting to slightly higher than barely legible status and my english to above thug.

Oooh just thought.
I've got a better one.
I read a number, either out loud or to myself, get it muddled up so I say or think it wrong and yet if I'm also writing it down I get it right!
Wierd, defective and yet cool.

Try: missing numbers:the lottery code.
Wanted! dead(numbers) or alive, pal.

This happens when our mind is elsewhere, a condition that is especially true for INTP's.

Ditto. Im no different here. Frequently misspell things, I even invent new words or bastardize old ones.
I toggle through first and third person. Everything must be rewritten, especially lyrics, but with every rewrite it gets better.

Sometimes I'll take completely seperate thoughts and output them as a single thing.
Often this means I can read a number, and read it out loud as a different number. Or when I'm talking about something, I'll suddenly realize that I started saying nonesense.

I'll often realize that a word like "him" or "her" could refer to someone besides the person I meant it to. So I go back and change things.
I try to avoid repeating words too, even though this is just a vanity of mine. The meaning still comes through either way.

All of the above.
