For those who are interested - there is an opportunity to meet up (and get pleasantly pickled) in DC on Jan 1st, 2006 in the evening around 6 or 7 pm.
If anyone is interested please let me know. I will give more details on location as the time draws more near.

I may go to add a little bit of estrogen to the mix.
Should I just look for the hunched over gaggle of drunk nerds in the corner?

Nah - my long time friend moved there two years ago - and I visit - simple as that.

Shame.
I doubt I'll make it over the pond, assuming its an open invite.
Would have liked to see what a whole crowd of drunk INTPs can achieve, or majestically fail to, in an evening.
Ah well maybe in the future................

cool, I might be able to go if I'm going to stay here in DC for New Year's. I was kind of thinking about going to New York by myself New Year's Eve to see the countdown and all that crazy stuff, but not sure if I want to brave the crowds...

I hope to be gone far far away from this area by then.
But if not, I will come see how much drink MacG and PrettyGal can really handle.

Would we get door prizes and free drinks for showing up?
That might mean the difference for m--err, someone out there.

Lemme think about that... no...
Show up if you like - I think there will be loads of fun. If all else fails we'll pick out one of us for the others to taunt... now that would be fun.

I don't know why, but I get the impression that you travel with an entire entourage of lady friends.

Hey I attempted to address this with Eye but he didnt give me his opinion on the matter. For those of you planning to attend, you know how you generally feel after New Years Eve. Is it realistic to assume that you would attend just like any other day or does the potential for your cancellation slightly increase?
I know myself well enough that this day will not be a problem, are all of you as confident?
BTW...If anyone would like to attend that needs an airline discount from anywhere United flies into Dulles Washington, PM me for details (only for the week surrounding this event please).

I MAY visit East Coast family in Philly and D.C. during this time (after X-Mas to New Years) and make an appearence if this all goes down. However, knowing me, I probably will just stay here in Cincinnati...

Yeah. Generally, after New Year's Eve I don't feel like moving-or I can't move-well...one of those. So I'd say that the potential for my cancellation does increase by having it on New Year's Day.
Plus, New Year's Day is that day where I make my plans to not smoke or drink as often. I thought I'd at least try to keep a resolution for 24 hours.

I am toying with the ida of going, NwYrDy is bad, but it is 6pm we should be sober by then. Where is our venue? Is DCA or IAD closer? If anyone else is thinking of flying in, maybe we could split the rental car?

If it's in DC proper, DCA is closer; if you are traveling during Metro hours, you don't need a rental car to get anywhere interesting. Taxi is probably better than dealing with parking in many instances.

Well. I'm fairly sure that the location is Fado's which is right across the street from the MCI Center and accessible by Metro (Gallery Place/ChinaTown).
DCA is definitely closer to the city than IAD, and there is a metro stop at the airport. So you'd get on the yellow line towards Mt. Vernon Square. I think it's the second to last stop. Easy as pie.

Yay more people potentially coming! Just a sidenote, you might want to check to see if it would be a lot cheaper for you to fly into Baltimore (BWI). If it is, it might be worth it to fly there as it's pretty convenient to get to DC from there. Take the free airport shuttle to the train station, take the MARC train for 6 bucks and you'll arrive at Union Station, which is only 2 metro stops away from Gallery Place. It does take a bit longer though, probably about an hour to get to DC, but it's better than IAD.

Cool - I have not visited this thread in a while - seems like we're gaining momentum - I am certainly intimidated now.
All those who are definitely coming please PM by 12/21/2005 so that I may be able to relay as much information as possible on the location, exact times, and related shit. I may end up posting a website with this reference information.
Stay tuned.

Reminder - Who ever plans to meet - PM me.
I will call Fado's and arrange something (if they do that - otherwise they will be put on gaurd for a bunch of silent nerds)
Also - I will post a website with directions, maps, times, secret handshake techniques and all that on the 21st (12/21/2005).

So, I just realized something.
Fado is going to be packed on the 1st. There's a hockey game right across the street at 3pm that day, and EVERYONE comes to Fado afterwards.
...Just an observation.

hope no one takes offense but....
as much as i love reading replying and theorizing on INTPc
I foresee many problems with these potential meets.
1) Intp's are by nature introverted. I doubt I'd talk much at one of these things.
2) Talk about a lack of diversity. this could either be very fun or very disastrous to have so many personality types together.
3) did this actually happen? who did the work to put it together? planning this must have been fairly easy but actually executing it is another matter.
4) i'm interested in how many intp's actually made it out / were late, considering we have a natural talent for being late and an aversion to making appointments in advance.
5) that said i'm still interested in meeting up!! whens the next DC meet?

Well, there was a Madison Meet (http://forums.intpcentral.com/showthread.php?t=6258) that was much cooler then the DC meet. And it went fine.

We had a meet in DFW that went well. Quite a bit to talk about ... although we weren't as touchy-feely as some other types might have been ;)

hahaha.. you know what, that isn't even a picture from the meet. It is like some bizaare fuckup from the erasure.
The sofa we used was something that has been in my family for about three generations now. Seriouslly, I bet you could find grandma's placenta on it if you checked the support beams.
Ok, that was a bit far, I'm going to go throw up and make myself another Sunday drink

Grandma's placenta, meaning the one that nourished her in great-grandma's womb? That IS old.

Alchohol helps.
2) Talk about a lack of diversity. this could either be very fun or very disastrous to have so many personality types together.
I found it very cool - we all had the forum in common as well as our ability to relate to eachother. It was actually easier than I would have initially thought.
3) did this actually happen? who did the work to put it together? planning this must have been fairly easy but actually executing it is another matter.
No one person put it together - and it did happen. It was a good night. LOTS OF BEER and rhetoric.
4) i'm interested in how many intp's actually made it out / were late, considering we have a natural talent for being late and an aversion to making appointments in advance.
I think only three were on time - the rest were late and so we started a bit late.

Ooooh... thats a toughie as we all made blood contracts to never do it again. It's still too early to determine whether there will be a meetup in DC again. But nothing is ever ruled out.
Ofcourse I was thinking there should be one Jan 1st 2007 in NYC. THats just an idea I was kicking around.
