View Full Version : Would you post anonymously?

Continuing from this thread (http://www.intpcentral.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=792). The idea is this: We'll have a forum where the members can post anonymously, so basicelly it'd mean people could say whatever is in their mind without the need to face the consequences.

I personally don't like the idea, but I'll do what the community wants, so go ahead and vote in the poll.

No you didn't. But you would like to. :D

I would never post there.

There is nothing I disrespect more than the hypocrisy exhibited by those who have to hide behind anonymity because they can't (or are scared) to defend their positions.

Such behaviour is diametrically opposed to INTP nature in my opinion.

We need a I dont care, or No opinion at this time option

Meh.

It will be entertaining if it's done, it not, it's fine by me too.

I completely agree with SensEye. But I'd also like to add: WHAT consequences from what we say? Does anyone actually care if someone on here gets offended? Because, in my opinion, that's the only conceivable consequence of posting on a forum.

Let me do an experiment to test this:

I am currently naked and partaking in an orgy with 12 eskimo midgets. Would anyone like to join me? After we are done we will use illegal drugs and sing explicit lyrics while driving in our gas-guzzling SUVs over the speed limit near the local elementary school at about the time that the small children are getting out.

Okay, I'll reverse my previous position. We don't really need an anonymous forum, cause as far as I can tell, INTP's are unshockable.

Reversing my previous position? I must be on illegal drugs!

This is why, I'm here... I can't tell if you are seriously trying to be offensive or are wielding sarcasm to try "play offend". I am prone to think that you are being sarcastic, but then that might offend you if you were really thinking that situation might be offensive. In which case I might be offended because you thought my sensitivities were so tame. Wait...no...yeah...uhh...

Heehee...you just reminded of how fun it is to watch people fume when I blurt out something just to watch them burn with fury over something ridiculously stupid and incosequential.

Given that he exhibits this without, er.., additional anonymity, I think we can conclude what his position here will be.

Who was burning with fury? (ambiguous pronouns!) The problem I see here is not with 'trying' or 'not trying' to offend people. The problem is in trying to perceive what emotions people are experiencing on-line and modifying the things you say accordingly. Obviously I was being facetious, and maybe you were too, I don't know, (in fact I dont even know where you come into this...the only post I know of related to this topic is THIS one) anyways.. in my joke I was trying to make the point that the only people who would find what I said offensive, are people that probably need a life anyways. Plus there could be outside factors that are making them sensitive, or maybe they're not even offended but are being weirdly sarcastic..because they dont want to admit they might otherwise be offended. See! you can drive yourself crazy over the reasons why people might be offended. I'm gonna go bang my head repeatedly against the wall now.

I wouldn't post anonymously. I think Div. just started the whole thing as a joke. I think it's funny this discussion is still going on (in two threads no less) and I imagine Div. is getting a kick out of it as well.

I'm also gonna have to go with indifference. If we end up with one (though the numbers appear to be against it), I might try it out, but I probably wouldn't frequent it.

Given my obsessive drive to clarify, I must.

"Burning with fury" pertains to those in the general population who take themselves, their beliefs, and life much too seriously to enjoy it. Which, in turn, drives me to tap wildly on their sensitivity buttons.

I was being facetious, and trying to be funny. I guess I need more practice (like that would help  )

:banghead: Doesn't the insistent banging annoy the neighbors? It annoys my wife and I just have to fix the wall later anyways. :banghead:

I may be silent when it comes to matters of small talk, but irl I have been known to speak my mind on things I feel strongly about. My UN is hardly anonymous. Anything I would say here, I would say to your face. I am not in favor.

On being offensive: Honesty is all it takes. There are rare occasions, with certain self proclaimed (politically correct) "iconoclasts" where I feel pleasure in knowing that I can be as offensive as I want. I know that there is nothing the old bag can do about it, me being completely unaffected by any counter attack. I can take things as far as they need to go...

As horrible as my posts are, atleast I have the balls to claim them as my own. I think that if there were an anonymous forum, it would be abused and manipulated (users pretending to be other users ect..) to the point of utter tragedy. Everyone would be sorry, mark my words.

Oh yeah..the anonymous thing...

Like Utompk, I stand by my words and consider myself powerful. You aren't getting my address, though. I am too sexy and would therefore get a ton of love mail from all the ladies in da fora. Not only that, if you somehow hunted me down, I would scare u at least thirty-three times as much as you could possibly scare me bcuz I'm wicked sharp and have a car in which I could drive away from u really quick. I could also drive around u in a tiny circle and cause u to bcome asphyxiated with smog.
