Do any of you ever imagine what somebody's voice sounds like when you read their posts?

Note 1: Please right-click and 'Save as' to download properly.
Note 2: You can attach an mp3/wav up to 1MB in size to your post

No. I'm just saying you don't seem to have an accent. You sound like an American. Maybe you need to do a longer speech sample.

Yes, I posted it because I thought you oughtta know. (Okay, bad joke.)

Anyway, I got this idea because I was on IRC and we started talking about what people's voices must sound like, and so I asked File Cabinet if it was possible to upload audio. And now it is - so lets get some voices!

I suppose this is an opportunity for a serious question:
I once had someone (just one) say they thought I had a good radio voice, but then, when questioned, had a small complaint. Interested in honest thoughts about the radionessocity of my voice, and, any comments, if you had to.

I won't break. After that comment, I gave a little thought to trying to do some radio for the college radio station, but I don't believe the person who told me, and don't care to make an ass of myself. ;)

Totally deep? I'd agree with the rawness. I find people, in almost all aspects, incredibly interesting. I could sit and ponder why someone did something a particular way, or why the woman next to me is wearing so much makeup (ex.) Though, I think the biggest inhibitor will be a lack of something to say. It'd be far easier just to have a teamspeak or ventrillo server and just let people chat with one another. It's just that, chat--not recording something for all people and all time and having to worry about how stupid it'll make you look later. ;)

We had a housewife in the group of guys (people? :p) I played an FPS with. It was amusing, because, unless her son was in the room, she was one of the raunchiest ones among us. A married woman constantly making inuendo laden comments to young, mostly single men who are in no position to do anything about it had a certain sense of social and perhaps poetic justice to it ;)

I can't think and talk at the same time so i have to think of what to say beforehand, and then knowing what i'm going to say before saying it makes it seem very contrived and rehearsed and... fake. listening to each recording attempt and deleting and trying again made me feel sick about it all. and then it seems very awkward uploading a recording which i already know everything that i said in. unless it was a reading of something, then it's someone else's words, otherwise it makes me feel so... naked

not sure why it appends it

You use Windows, right?

You machine could have the default setting that hide extenstions to files - and that could be hiding what is actually going on with that file - I did notice that all the files wanted to be saved with ".htm" extensions.

I heard it - fine - I right clicked and did a "Save as" then took off the .htm extension off of it

not sure why it appends it

Most likely this happens because the web server from which the file is downloaded reports the wrong MIME type, which means in plain English that it pretty much lies to your browser and claims it's an HTML file rather than a WAV or MP3. If so, this is a server configuration problem.

(specifically, it seems to be either the "attachment.php" script or the web server for intpcentral.com itself that is doing this)

Her computer broke, so she may be gone from the forums for a while.

Although it must be said that it is pretentious in the extreme both that Madrigal would presume to speak for the people on classic status; a girl both clearly in love with her own voice and one who, at the date of this posting has led countless Citizens to find themselves lost in the woods leaving them with no knowledge of who they are, I, as manifestation of The Voice, recently have received requests from the front lines asking the same question.

So, let her voice be joined be joined by a manifestation of The Voice in asking the question that the People want answered, albeit in a grainy, poorly balanced way:

Well, this is certainly interesting. I even dusted off my CI (I really should wear it more often) to try and see if I could find any differences between voices. Since I can't really distinguish words, its all about tone, pitch, and resonance. When I hear high voices, the "sound" seems to be situated in the middle of my head above my eartips. Lower tones move to the back and down. Does this happen for y'all with normal hearing as well, or is it just me? Maybe its the electrodes... I've noticed the diff. in sensation many times but never really tried actively comparing before...

Anyway... I though Philo's was especially interesting since it had a quite different quality than others- on louder side like Rhu's, but less edge and more texture....
