I'm about to go insane!
I signed up for rhapsody.com. I just want some friggin music! After I gave them payment info, etc., I tried to log on and could not. Then I called to cancel, figuring I would just sign up again with a new user name, ect. Come to find out, I had the right user name and password, it's just that my computer doesn't accept cookies. So I lowered the security settings to "Accept all cookies." It still doesn't work!!!!! The tech guy talked me through a couple things and then, when he couldn't help me, told me to call my isp. I couldn't really understand exactly why, with his accent and my cordless phone connection (agggghhhhhh!!!!!!!) Why would my isp have anything to do with my computer not accepting cookies regardless of the settings?!?!

I don't believe that is possible, no.
Need more information on errors - describe the steps you go through until you hit the brick wall. Also, if you running any antivirus type stuff, try disabling it then connecting.
Also, what browser are you using to access it?

You have to download Rhapsody when you sign up which I did. When I open it, it opens a sign-in box, but when I sign in it says that I can't because my computer won't accept cookies. As I said, I had changed my settings to accept ALL cookies. It's back to medium now, per the tech guy. As for anti virus, he had me check that too. Interestingly, I have no anti virus, spyware or anything enabled even though when we got this computer a few months ago we set up all that stuff. I'm positive of that.
As I told the guy over the phone, I've had this problem with this computer before. When I first got it, I set it up to prompt me before accepting any cookies. Wait, could that be yahoo? I have SBC Yahoo DSL as an isp. I use Internet Explorer as a browser. Maybe I set up the cookie prompting through SBC Yahoo? Is that possible? Even if I change the settings through internet explorer?
I can't get into netflix either because the first time I tried I denied the cookie and it won't let me try again. Even after changing the settings. Deja Vu!

I must admit, this is something new to me. I thought I had heard of everything!
There are places like AOL that force settings on you. Ermm... Trying to think on how to do this.
Well, you can try this, if you want...
Go to "Start" -> "Run" and type in "msconfig"
On the window that pops up, go to the right two tabs (Services and startup? I think). Check to see what is loading - leave the microsoft stuff, but if you see anything like Yahoo, Internet settings or similar try disabling it and rebooting.
Unless someone else has come across this! Do you remember if you ran a disk/cd when you got your net connection set up?
Do you have some kind of anti spyware thats blocking cookies? Try a different browser too.

Thank You! I tried that which showed me that I had McAfee crap running. I disabled it. Apparently Rhapsody cannot run with any security whatsoever running. So, I may lose my computer to viruses but at least I have some music until then!!! :)
Just for clarification, do you think this is my problem with other sites? Do many sites not load if you have a firewall running?
Thanks.

My pleasure, glad I can help! And yes, probably quite a few sites will have problems - but that's because mcafee isn't so great, not because it should be like that.
I'd take a look at re-enabling it then running the application (though... I hate mcafee). There are probably some references to web security that you can disable.
And yes, quite a few sites are not firewall-happy. If you are that worried, I went from needing a firewall due to dozens-hundreds of attacks a day to getting a router (and a crappy linksys Wireless G one) and not needing the software one at all. My geek friends lecture me, but I've been clean since. (I think, of course, but I'm pretty picky)
I'd also recommend that and getting spybot + adaware. The Spybot TeaTimer is pretty good, I find. Its not perfect but so long as its just your 'fun' PC (ie: no million dollar contracts, heh) its more than enough.

Instead of disabling the anti virus (though that said.. probably should get something better than mcafee), you should look to set up the web site as a trusted site to allow cookies etc. Same goes for any relavent firewall/spyware/popup blocker etc programs. Most can be set to ignore specific sites.

Thanks for the suggestions here. I'm not super worried, no million dollar contracts. No ten dollar contracts, either.
I do think it's funny that I hung up with tech support and had the problem fixed in less than 20 minutes thanks to Intp central. Most notably ptGatsby. Thanks.
