Have you been there?

It's the worst place for an INTP:

-No privacy.
-Showering in groups.
-Very little access to books.
-Toilets in the open.
-Idiots in large numbers.
-No access to a computer, of any sort.
-Lots of extraverted gang mentality.

Stay out of this place, it's not for you.

How do you think you would do in jail, or prison? :o

Never been. I might go to a mental institution for developing schizophrenia :D . It'd be nice to get a padded room...

The key is knowing if (or even better, when) you are going to get out. As long as the situation is temporary, I'd be able to get along just fine.

I think the imposed information ascetism would be neat. There'd be lots of time for leisurely self-reflection and pushups. That's if I accepted my punishment. Otherwise I'd be pissed and work even harder to develop myself so I could kick someone's ass after I got out.

I think I'd get along okay with my prisonmates (if we are allowed to socialize) given some time because, if nothing else, we'd have a mutual hate of the system to BS about.

As you can tell I've never been to prison.

I've been arrested and held in a jail building, but not in a cell.

So...do tell. What prompted the thread?

Funny, I was thinking about that a few days ago, and my solution was to badly mutilate one of my cell mates, then spend the rest of my sentence in solitary confinement. (If that still exists in HMP)

Thats exactly how I survived, by acting up and staying on suicide watch mostly all of the time.

I'd likely do poorly enough that I'd have to be transferred to the psych ward (assuming the prison in question had one) inside the first couple of months.
Solitary confinement is just as mentally stressful as a complete lack of privacy, but I'm probably better equipped to handle it. If nothing else, I could go insane in peace. :P

I always thought solitary confinement would be the most bearable part of jail. But unlimited books would be nice, and a computer.

Hell, I think I'll be the governor instead. Besides which, no doubt you're allowed to practise mind games on your charges.

( In Canada some time ago a chap pleaded with the judge to increase his sentence so that he could go to a national? jail instead of a county one ( it depended automatically on length of sentence ) reason smoking was allowed in the national system. Very sensible: if anyone ever does anything to stop me smoking, or tries to cut my hair short, I'll break their arms ) :D

They'll have to shoot me in the back while running before I'll go. I'll take my chances from there.

(FYI: It's been fairly well documented that in the U.S., cops score around 123 and below on most I.Q. tests)

Suicide watch, you would have a person checking in on you every five minutes. That would drive me insane.

I think that I might go mad in prison. I would definitely make trouble and try to ride out my sentence in solitary confinement.

What point are you trying to make here?

Jail or military, I wouldn't survive either of them.

I'd probably get myself put in solitary confinement on purpose to stay away from most of the sociopaths and thugs in prison.

I am glad I have never been there - jail would likely be life-threatening for me. The system doesn't know how to handle gender non-conformists. If I ended up there, I would do whatever I could to be placed in solitary confinement. Military would be almost as bad, and thankfully I never signed up.

I've been to jail twice now and I'll probably be back soon (after my next court appearance.) I'm not entirely sure why I break the law so much.. I guess it's just for the thrill of breaking the rules and usually getting away with it. Don't a lot of INTP's have problems with rules and a tendancy toward being anarchists?

Well anyway, jail really sucks. Lots of stupid people who talk about stupid things. If you ever end up there you're worst problem is going to be suffering from being surrounded by idiots. I just sat in my cell all day and tried not to talk to people.. didn't get in any fights. Actually one of my jail sentences was pretty entertaining.. There was a guy coming down off meth who just sat in his cell and shouted "fuuuuck" periodically.. about every minute. A guard visited his cell, thrashed him around a little bit, and said "shut the fuuuuuck up!" You had to be there..er, no you didn't.
