What type do you think would make the best parent for you?

ISFJ or maybe an INFJ

I don't think you can pick a best parenting type overall. Each type has its own merits that a child can benefit from.
Just because you're a good parent doesn't mean you'll have a good kid.

But it certainly helps. If every child is one specific type wouldnt it follow that there would be a best match for that child?
Perhaps I should edit my first quesiton and ask a mod to edit the question for the poll.

I honestly think NF's would be the best.

For me, perhaps an INTP, ENTP, ENFP or what I have now, an ESFJ. Really, it doesn't matter.
edit: no, actually, it does matter. If I had a choice prior to being born to the parents I have, I would probably choose from a combination of the following teams:
ENTP mother+ INTP father
ENFP mother+ INTJ father
INTP mother+ ENTP father
INFJ mother+ INTP father
INTP mother+ INTP father
INTP mother+ ENFP father

For me, I think an ENTP would be nice. I know if it weren't an E, I would never even leave my house.
I got SPs instead. :/

Yes Nemesis, despite your attempts to prove otherwise, I do think an ENFJ would make the best parent, even more so if I were the other parent.

INTJ and ENFP pair would be good too, I mean, look how great I turned out!

Oh, Esteban, you needn't be so around the bush about it. I would take you out to dinner some time it's just that you're a guy, and that's a total turn-off.

ENFJs make great parents...for deaf kids! My (ENFJ) mom would NEVER stop talking if somebody didn't (nicely) interrupt her. I talked to her on the phone this morning, and if I hadn't said "I've gotta go", she'd still be talking...and it's 6PM

...I never talk that much, believe it or not, and I hate talking on the phone. Cultural or gender role difference maybe?
Parents who have strong inferior functions or having a balance across both parents in their functional capacities would probably be best. Picking a singular type or a singular harmonic pair doesn't seem to be very sensible.
This I figure from my own perceived deficiencies: my parents' types are likely INTP and ISFJ; growing up and never ever having guests in your home doesn't tend to teach you much about mixing with others.
Anyway, I refuse to vote in this poll on those grounds.

I like some SFJ's I voted for ISFJ.

Yeah my ENFP mom was the same way. I wouldnt say anything to her or even look at her, occasionally giving her an annoyed glance and she still wouldnt shut up.
Anyways, I voted ENFJ because I feel the ENF is the most nurturing and J just provides the necessary structure and discipline.
Interesting its the exact opposite personality type as us.

I'm quite pleased with my ENFP mama, even though she's loopy. She's always there for emotional support if I need it. Would have been nice if my dad wasn't INTJ. Or if he at least wasn't crazy in a scary kind of way.
I'd make an awesome mom. NFs all the way!

Okay, who the hell picked INTP.
Just to clarify two things:
1) It's a public poll, but you probably already knew that.
2) I went by the thread title, not the poll's.

I'll keep my dad the same but change my mom's type. So it would be ISTJ, and ENTP...That should have been the ideal household for me to grow up in.

This all raises a wonderful question though. What role does the parents' type play in forming the type of the child? Does this correlate to the sex of the child and the type of the respective parent (likely)? Does the child learn each function from their parents seperately, or do they learn their entire type according to their parents' and end up combining them? Could type be linked to genetics in anyway?

Btw, I picked ENTJ - my father. Every INTP needs a kick in the ass, including you, including me. In fact, you could probably use a good lecture about how you're wasting your life right now. Except, unlike those STJ characters, an ENTJ will make a very earnest appeal to reason, instead of some incomprehensible reference to "duty" or something.
The only people who have actually made me want to get off my ass and make something of myself have been by father, an ENTJ professor, and some other ENTJ figures I've come across over the years.
Edit: By the way, you're lazy and really ought to apply yourself a little more. I mean, honestly, look at yourself. You have so much potential! Is this how you want to live?
Edit: That's not actually how my father speaks.

INTJ. ;)
*is being completely biased* <_<
I think my mother is a fantastic parent, for me. But people of any type can be fantastic parents. We communicate on the same wavelength and if she pushes me to do something, she does it because she knows I've got the potential and can put across an argument that works for me. The introverted part also works out nicely for me, because we're both introverts and we tend to have our seperate areas of the house for ourselves. :] While she isn't a *breathes down your neck* type of person, she lets herself watch from a distance, stepping in if she thinks I'm doing something completely off the map.
Basically she's the perfect parent! Bahaha.

I have an INTP parent, and I chose ENTJ/ENFJ. The grass is sometimes greener on the other side. ;)

I think this is a good point. Id be a worthless bum if not for my INTJ father and ENTJ high school teacher. I still the remember the time when me teacher pulled my outside the class and gave me the whole "You can get on the train, or you can watch the train go by" lecture.

ESTJ father and ESFJ mother might be interesting. I would have so much fun making their lives miserable.

That is so true. ENTJ, "You have potential, you have skills do something with them! Here are 20 ideas. I believe in you." (While you continue to sit on your ass and think about this...)
I am undecided on a specific type. I would say an NFJ mother and an NT father for myself would have been nice.

My INFX (I think) mother takes a psychological approach to motherhood. Everything is evaluated according to how it affects her children's psychological growth. She never forces or forbids, she presents options and encourages. This was good for me. My SP sister, though, takes advantage of it.

this question is weird since you would normally have 2 parents.
INFJ + ENTP
or
ENFP + INTJ
Or
INTP + ENFJ
I don't think an SxJ would ever be the 'best' parent for an xNTx

I can relate to that...my parents have been raising me (and my sister) using reverse psychology... and unfortunately, it's "working".
They encourage us to go to parties, flirt, be less conservative, drink, party, etc...(within a limit, of course). But we (or at least, I) rebelled. Yeah, I became a homebody-healthnut-geek... I showed them!
