Hola!
Took an Advisor Team test years ago, found the results on my old PC today. Read through it. Bit depressing, as if I was pigeon-holed. Figured I'd do a little looking around for others.
I'm an INTP...
I must agree with a sig I saw on one of the posts. "I'm not social, just a good drinker."
I'm currently living in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Glorious suburban sprawl... Why not go down the list of other places I've lived while I'm at it?
Savannah, GA
Florence, SC
Aiken, SC
West Grove, PA
Bunch of Places around Philly before that.
I'm a bit confused by my career at this point. I'm technical, a programmer(sometimes), using Cold Fusion. I'm not really allowed to program much anymore... Company prefers to outsource it. Something about me getting hit by a bus or something.
Most of my time is spent with Marketing and Operations, process flows, new product development, process analysis, effeciency shite... blah blah blah....
Anyway, thats the short of it...

It's the standard Jung test. Advisor Team provides testing for companies, or you can take it yourself for a small fee. The results are a bit long to post. Gotta convert a pdf to copy them in....

I don't know about being pigeon-holed... the MBTI was the first time I saw a personality test that actually fit me. Any test I had ever taken to that point was a poor representation of me. However, I read my INTP description and was extremely surprised at the results.
What part of the description did you think fit you best?

Pigeon-holed was a bad way to put it. It was a wierd feeling to read the results of the test, because I was in agreement with all of it.
That was the Yin-Yan of it. On one hand, it bothered me a little to know that I, me, original me!... could be classified. On the other, it was comforting to know that there are others like me.
I threw the test results up on my server.

This is exactly how I felt, on the one hand I'ts not nice to be classified, but its nice to know there are others like you. I wish I had know this years ago.

Hmm... hello
Always nice to see a new vic....face around. My that is a strange twist in your career. Lets hope that you'll have something to do.
I wonder what the difference is between a paid test like that and one that you could do for free on the net. Is it really more trustworthy? Or do people just feel comfortable for something because they think price equals quality?
Anyway it's nice to meet you. Must check out your site sometime.

A 'free' net based IQ test gave me a suspiciously high score, and then offered a 'full personality profiile' for a fee. My suspicion was that the score was made higher to get victims to then go for the paid stuff becasue by then you would be so pleased at your high IQ score.

I was comfortable with the small fee they charged. It was recommended by a Mentor that was familiar with the Jung tests. Used to do the testing, felt that one was quite thorough.

That's happened to me as well, and I've been wondering exactly the same thing.

Welcome Groty!
Sounds like you've moved a lot - military?
I agree that it is a little depressing to realize that there are other people out there that are like you. It's that INTP strong sense of individualistism. But it has been refreshing to meet other people that seem to think the same way and are going through similar career indecisions.

Yes! Totally! I am finally comfortable starting a conversion or participating in a conversation without wondering if people will understand what I'm saying.
This forum is quite liberating, and FUN!
No, not military. Comes down to family, school, and job. I do live in the Norfolk area, but I am definitely not military. In fact, talking to the military folks scare me.

I've noticed that too. Especially I was stationed at Keesler AFB.
I'm not sure why I scare people. I'm the least scary person I know
Ah well, Welcome to the board :hello:
