Hi! I've taken the tests 100000 times, but have just recently been tested at work, so all my co-workers can see who I "really" am. Kinda scary. I'm always the only one in a group who ends up being an INTP. Of course, that's no surprise. I look really normal, but have always felt different! I'm sure you all know what I mean. Anyway, I have decided it's time to meet some other INTPs. So here I am, in all my glory.

Welcome. Assuming you are a woman by your name, perhaps you noticed the women's section we have here. In particular, the booger eating thread.

yeah, i thought it was pretty cool that there is a women's section. any INTP's i've ever met have been men. are there just more male INTP's in general? I dunno.

On my way to the booger thread...

:)

I think there are more male Ts in general, so that skews INTPs towards the male side.

Let us know about the boogers!

I've heard that women make up about 1/3 of the INTP population. Don't know if it's just that more men are T's in general.

Welcome lordog!

How does one know that one thinks differently then others?

And a easier question what is your profession?

Welcome Lori :hello:

So tell us, who are you really? Where do you work? Are you doing something that compliments your personality? And how do you feel about your co-workers?

I think it is split male/female 50%.

Let's see, I am 27, and I have a BA in Philosophy. What do I do w/ my degree? I work for a company called GBMI (Global Brand Marketing Inc.) We basically own a couple of footwear brands, and license a few more. Get this: I work in Customer Service. How's that for a non-INTP job? I *hate* it, but I like the company and hope to be there for awhile. I'm applying for a job called "Master Data Specialist". If I get it, I will get to embrace my inner geek and be the person who houses and analyzes all of our Sales Ops data in SAP. Fingers crossed. I love my co-workers, but they think I'm a freak. We all have a good time, though. I work with a bunch of people in their 20's, which can be insane and loud, but never gets boring. I live in Santa Barbara, CA, which is just about the least practical place you could possibly live. No jobs, extremely high house prices ("fixer-upper" bungalows go for $750,000), but once you live here, you get sucked in and can't move away. Seriously. I think there's something in the water. So that's kind of where I'm at right now. I don't usually post to forums, so I'm a little shy right now! I get over it pretty quick though. Thanks for all the welcomes, everyone :)

Hello, and welcome, which doesn't mean much coming from someone as new tot he forum as you ^_^, but it's the thought that counts I suppose.

BA in Phil.. you just reminded me, time to chage my minor.

I too feel your pain in putting up with people everyday. I run a computer shop in a small town that houses snow-birds. I now know dealing with enraged senior citizens on a daily basis is not the ideal job for the INTP.

In any case, I'm sure you will make the community here a better place to be.

10 years from now...I want to own my own business, but I don't really want to have to be responsible for employees, and I don't want to have to talk on the phone much, so I'll have to work that out. I will definitely have a Master's degree in *something*, although I'm not sure what yet. I'm Canadian originally, so I could see myself back in Vancouver, or maybe Seattle. That is, if I can escape Santa Barbara.

you mean change it to philosophy, or is it philo and you want to change to something else? what's your major?

yeah, angry people are no fun. i'm starting to have a problem holding back my sarcasm when people call...i've been doing this for a year and that's way too long. enraged senior citizens are probably even worse, because you're face-to-face w/ them, and they have canes and things that they could wave around and possibly hurt you or a computer if they got really pissed. :o

Welcome to the board :hello:

I also am a customer service INTP (NEXRAD Hotline). Oddly enough though, it seems to fit me rather well, especially since I only deal with one or two people at a time. I love to teach, I don’t know if that is because of the INTP in me who loves to give advice or because I was raised in a family where teaching was the second most common profession.

Good luck on getting the new job.
