It took me 7 seconds to click Usergroups, see only one Moderators, click Information and see an invitation.

All the moderators also have names/aliases/whatever under their usernames. What are the criteria for that? (Number of posts, I'm guessing.)

You haven't been paying due attention in the Suggestion Box. Anyone who reached a certain number of posts, regardless of their being a mod or a peasant, is to be named by the membership. Currently the amount is a 1000, and file_cabinet is undergoing the process right now.
