I was originally a part of this forum when it was still at forumer.intp.
When I'm not reading or playing games, I'm usually at a coffee shop or trying out different flavours of linux. I recently stuck my childish feet in the ocean of Physics with only a few high school classes to keep me from drowning, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I found an autographed copy of Issac Asimov's "Understanding Physics", which looked to me like the hand of fate was two inches in front of my face pointing in that direction, from the likes of myself not having chosen a suitable career.
I enjoy Asimov, Heinlein, Card, and Adams when it comes to science fiction, but my favourites will always everyone's favourites, the great novels.
When it comes to games, I enjoy the old ones. Tribes, Quake, Half-Life. The new games are too complicated, and seem like they are trying to make a first-person strategy game, rather than sticking with the brute tactics of the classics.
When it comes to Linux, Debian will always be my home, but sometimes a good dose of RedHat/Fedora helps, and Gentoo I just don't care for.
When it comes to coffee, I usually just have a cappucino, or maybe an americano. I got tired of slinging shots of espresso down the gob. Ginsberg is enjoyed a lot more without having the incessant need to go jogging.
When it comes to personality, I stay old fashioned, even though my friends usually try to change me. I'm male, 19, Buddhist, run a computer repair shop in the next town, and day to day, just try to figure things out. Voluntarily single (An ESFP girlfriend, and then two SJs right after), living with a roommate, and attempting to raise a modeling site for a local talent with the little time I dedicate. Trying to do college, but only get one semester in a year at the most. Hoping to stumble across an ENTP female one day, I'm very curious because I have never met one. Curse the existence of Pi, but truly love nature.
In any case, I'm back, and I hope things go better this time around.

Welcome ( or welcome back ). What's wrong with SUSE ?
What games can you run on Linux ? When you say the great novels, d'you mean Eng/Rus Lit. or SF ?

Grokkfried is the name I used to go by.
Games on linux: Quake, HL, UT.
Ack, my novel comment was too ambiguous. English literature.
As for SUSE, the next time I install it, I will post what I find.

Quite. When they've got Cossacks and have figured a way to make old DOS/Early Windows wargames run, then I can say goodbye to Redmond forever.
The more intense new games don't interest me much anyway.

BTW Atticus, if you contact file_cabinet with your request ( and a small token of esteem, such as a camel covered in jewelry ) you can have your post-count from the Elder Forum transferred to your new account.

:hello: Hi, Atticus.
Even though I'm new to the forum myself, it would still be a duly gesture to extend you my welcome.
Do you play any of the Tom Clancy inspired games? (Rainbow Six series, Harpoon, Splinter Cell, etc)

Thanks yall for welcoming me.
Vaga, it feels good to be remembered.
Claver, I didn't have much on that account, and that count doesn't matter much anyways.
Ptyalism, I'm glad you posted that, I almost forgot. I foam at the mouth when it comes to Tom Clancy games. The realism, and thought required, has me sitting like a nun in front of the computer for hours.

File it sure is. I don't know why, but I always get the feeling I am ignored by everyone on this forum. I'll figure that one out later.

I have absolutely no idea why you said 'Finch' ( don't bother explaining, we all have our own deep-seated neuroses [ except me ] ); but I was asking why Atticus said he sat like a nun in front of Tom Clancyish games. Somehow I can't imagine any nun I've ever seen or heard of ( and some of my namesakes in Ireland were excessively fond of nuns back in the 12th century ) rooted to a seat guiding a torpedo to it's home.

Slider, you cold, funny you. To answer your question, not Finch. Atticus was a nickname given to me by my friends that I believe suits me rather well.
Arcael, no, I haven't. I will look into it though; if it's tactics and realism, I'm interested.
Claver, the reason I used "nun" in that context, is their (Generally speaking) superb posture, attentiveness, and seemingly content persona. These are just the nuns I've seen in my lifetime.
Anyone read Richard Bach?

would make a nice picture though,
"thou shat not escapeth the trajectory of my blessed torpedo"
"thy radar signature is thy undoing"
.....

I got the reference... Claver, one of these days you should check out American Lit... it's not that bad, really it isn't...
Heman... that would be funny... and the Holy Hand Grenade would turn up eventually... some sort of medieval/futuristic crossbreed fps... and the frag reasons turn up like that... Hmm, I'd play that.

I adore American Lit.; as I said elsewhere it is virtually the only thing your land has given to the world I truly value... Most particularly the master Cabell and also Poe, but even Henry James Junior, that roguish scamp Natty Hawthorne, and Thorne Smith and half a dozen others; but I draw the line at the Transcendentalists and Hemingway though.
Atticus. From school ( which is the only place I ever read soppy stuff ) I seem vaguely to remember 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. Naturally I expunged it from my memory along with the plays of Arnold Wesker ( you will not have heard of him in America, and count your lucky stars ). I know one of the characters was called by a greekish name, but I'm too proud to google. Something to do with that ? If not, feel free to give more clues. At first I was thinking of Bulfinch...

Claver, one of these days, would you mind writing me a short booklist of your personal favourites? I'm getting low on queue, and since you seem to like Tom Waits, we just may have the same taste.

Sure. I'll start soon... I make lists and then lose them; so PM me if I haven't done it in a week or so. I'll stick to authors, not being into contemporary music much. TW is really uncatagorizable as that, being sui generis.
