I have all the music from several installations of windows on my HDs (about 12GB) in separate folders spread out all over my system. It's a mess.

I need software that will find all of it, fix the tags and then put it in one directory. Does anyone know of something like that?

in windows xp:
Do a search for "all files and folders", click on "more advanced options", where it says "type of file", go to the pull down menu and select mp3, or whatever program handles your mp3s (for example, "winamp media player file" if winamp is your default mp3 player).

This will search for all the mp3s on the drive and put them into one window. Select all, then put them in the directory of your choice.

There's a program called tag & rename (http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/11/1/7/11-1-7-2.shtml) to handle the tags. It will read the file name and write the tags in whatever format you select. If you have full albums it can connect to the internet and write the tag info for you. It can also rename files based on tags.

If the file names themselves are in a mess, you can rename files in bulk with this program (http://www.index-page.net/Root_colin/downloads.htm) or this program (http://renamefiles.it-falke.com/).

I'm sure there's other stuff out there to do it with, but that's what I manage my mp3s with.
