Does anyone have any?

I'm considering trying to get the National AP Scholar award. I already have an AP scholar award, and it would be tough to get National, but I'm considering it.

I've taken all the AP classes my school offers. I'm doing mostly independent study next year, so I can do it that way. My unmotivation is likely to get in the way though. I'll have to ponder this some more.

I'll be the among first to back you up if you decide Yes! What are the req's for a National AP Scholar?

(We're an IB school instead of AP, and I'll be getting an IB Diploma - IB doesn't do national competitions for IB scores and etc., to my knowledge)

Average score of 4 on all exams taken and to score 4 or higher on 8 or more exams. Tough load.

Is IB better for you than it was for me?

I took two AP tests. AB Computer Science (the harder of the two) and AB Calculus (The easier of the two). I got a 5 on the computer science exam, and a 3 on the calc exam. That could have somthing to do with not doing homework, not studying for tests and not paying attention in class, which, althouh it didn't really make a difference in Computer Science, hurt me a lot in Calculus. Oh well. Result: at least I TOOK calc in high school. I didn't learn much, but it sure makes taking it again in college a walk in the park. And I do study and complete my homework when I am paying for the priviledge ;)

Wow, my school doesn't even offer 8 AP classes within schedual requirements. 2 English 1 History 2 Science and calc is max. There are AP bio and AP chem. no AP physics though. Which sucks physics rocks. Yeah.

I took several AP classes in High School, only got college credit for three of them though. Psychology, Statistics and American history.

I think I was an "AP Scholar with Distinction" or something like that back in '96. I do not believe there existed a national AP scholar level at that time, but I really didn't pay much attention. Then again, at that time, not as many people took the exams and fewer subject matter were offered for examination.
Standardized tests such as the AP's allowed me to attend a decent college despite so-so grades and nearly non-existent extra-curricular activities. Having any kind of national academic award on your application will help you stand out. I also was also able to switch majors and graduate in four years with the use of the credits.
Then again, once you get to college, skipping introductory classes using AP credits isn't always a good idea, especially in math and science. I ran into that problem with calc and it screwed me up in the long run in math.
