I'm sure some of us have heard of Burkhard Heim (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burkhard_Heim). Seems like a "warp" engine based on his work can be developed (http://www.newscientistspace.com/article/mg18925331.200/): this hyperdrive motor would propel a craft through another dimension at enormous speeds. It could leave Earth at lunchtime and get to the moon in time for dinner
