Funny how the legal drug, caffeine, produces the poorest web (behind sleeping pills). I'm guessing a drunk spider's web wouldn't do so hot either.
damn you!! i saw "lsd" in the research, and I was wondering why the didn't post the picture of it, it had to be better than pot but couldn't make their case since lsd has all kinds of extreme effects that could be argued aginst compaired to caffine.

Interestingly enough - the LSD web appears to stretch out into the cosmos... ooh, trippy.
On acid, the spider was able to see that its not the annular rings that matter. All of spider-webdom can be expressed simply through radial strands...
It's all so clear now.
Bah.
there's a normal ammount of rings on the lsd web and its more organized than the normal web. It just happens to be really hard to take a picture of a spider web. But i do see what you're takling about, and the radial strands seem to be more evenly placed and more expanded.

I've noticed a few things with google search when looking for the LSD web.
typing in "lsd web" in google search makes only single link results come up
also typing in "caffine spider web". But not all combonations of web and a different word work. why?

i like how LSD spider went all hippy. he only did the strands that aren't sticky except for maybe a little splotch. like he's friendly now, inviting other bugs to come walk safely in his home. and, clearly, using just that tiny little spot for hunting shows that he doesn't believe in killing for sport, only food, and even then, he feels guilty. a true minimalist.
oh, he's going to die, for sure, with that attitude, but still...
bless his fucked up lil heart.![]()
it's all there, its just the picture makes it hard to see
A control web, built by a Zygiella-x-notata spider the day before drug application, shows the usual slight irregularities of the geometric orb pattern
After the low dose of LSD-25, this spider like all others in this experiment, built a web which is more regular in central angle and spiral spacing, and has a larger catching area.

Must be something to those low doses of LSD - wasn't the scientist that envisioned the double-helix DNA model on a low dose of acid at the time? After the low dose of LSD-25, this spider like all others in this experiment, built a web which is more regular in central angle and spiral spacing, and has a larger catching area.
Bah.
