Default Graph Theory vs Mathematical Coding Theory?

Which class sounds more interesting INTP

mathematical coding theory ( 3) Shannon's theorem, block codes, linear codes, Hamming codes, Hadamard codes, Golay codes, Reed-Muller codes, bounds on codes, cyclic codes.

graph theory ( 3) Introduction to the theory and applications of graphs and directed graphs. Emphasis on the fundamental theorems and their proofs

it seems like doing a quick wikipedia on all the topics in the math coding theory course makes it seem like mostly about error correcting codes

They're both really important. Shannon is fundamental to information theory, and graph theory is hugely important for information modeling. I use both every day.

i would say go w/ graph theory first since it's "more" "general," but it might be boring since its a basic course, but then again u might find it beautiful so who knows. like hilbert is saying, you should do both. if it was a case of either-or i would go w/ coding theory since it's the more specialized and would be harder to pick up by oneself unlike graph theory which you'll have to learn and will pick up anyway
