I like the second one, Arachne...it's beautiful. What medium you use?

They make me uncomfortable, not sure that's a good thing here.

I went to regular university and got a BA in art. I didn't learn much there since the professors were there to finance their own art careers and didn't do much teaching. The main thing is I've been painting off and on for 15 years now. IMO, in art, experience and experiment trump formal schooling.

Thanks. All my paintings are done with acrylics.

Because they are "pretty" do expect them to only convey positive emotions? I think my paintings are loaded with anxiety, loneliness, and sorrow.

I like the painterly approach. I feel like the figure in the second one isn't completely integrated with the rest of the painting. Almost like the landscape is a backdrop. Maybe because the colors in the figure are so different than the colors in the rest of the painting? Perhaps that is your intent, or maybe it is just the photo. Nice work!

Well, it's mostly intentional. There is supposed to be some push and pull going on with the figure. I want her to pop from the background, which emphasizes her and creates an intimacy with the viewer (i.e. she's more real if her world is somewhat unreal and she's not fully within in)... but I also don't want her to pop so much that it becomes a distraction or pulls her so much from her environment that the viewer no longer considers her relationship the landscape (which includes her separation from it). It's a delicate balance. Thanks for the feedback.

That kid looks like he's just hatched from one of those orange pods that are disguised as pumpkins. Creeeeepy. Good though.
Nor does it matter how you gauge and try him. A character is like an acrostic or Alexandrian stanza; read it forward, backward, or across, it still spells the same thing.

All is bloated and far from truth. Let's secure that reputation. Place the dummy upon the roof. Stitch him a tongue. Give him proof.
