This disturbs me...

Why do you find it disturbing? This would accomplish two things- stop the unethical treatment of animals in megafarms, and possibly create a bridge towards the food replicator. We already eat cloned vegetables and fruit. Meat is the next big obstacle to tackle.
I think this is more disturbing. I doubt this will pan out for a very long time though
Meta techno-mystery meat up though, and consider from a species point of view that developing industrial scale artificial meat would probably be very bad news for Bovinae Bos. Weird huh?
It just doesn't seem natural... the thought of eating meat made in a lab makes me feel a little sick.
I'm not a cannibal... that's why.
Haha. That's the bright side? Why does that worry me? I actually think about that quite a bit though... how unnatural modern technology is. Sometimes I wonder if the good outweighs the bad... I don't know.
I guess I should say that I'm not really morally against the laboratory meat. Just the thought of me personally eating it grosses me out. If producing it solves some problems and other people want to eat it then great.
I'm skeptical it will taste satisfactory. Or be any cheaper that livestock. But if it succeeds on both fronts, I might not have a problem with it. Although I would be curious to what they are growing it with (feeding it so to speak). You can't create matter out of nothing and I worry about a rather bizarre mix of inputs.
