The rifle hanging on the wall of the working class flat or labourer's cottage is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see it stays there.- George Orwell
The way in which we experience and interpret the world obviously depends very much indeed on the kind of ideas that fill our minds. If they are mainly small, weak, superficial, and incoherent, life will appear insipid, uninteresting, petty, and chaotic.- E. F. Schumacher

I have never heard of this before, but a cursory glance at the FAQ makes me really, really excited about it. Can I trouble you to share the most salient qualities of this neat thingummy (is thingummy really a word? how odd.)
Wait, that's in 2 days. That's very soon. Shit, I'm putting in my order now. [edit: Or I guess I mean signing up for the mailing list and putting my order in Wednesday.]
I shall not read nor tolerate posts that are overlong, meaning those that tax my attention span, meaning keep it fucking digestible, meaning a good four lines max.
RPi is an ARM based computer with tuned graphics to give full hd (1080p). The idea is that schools buy these for kids to learn programming without fear of shagging a few hundred dollars worth of PC. Not that I have never known an a high school destroy a PC through programming. And anyway recovering a PC is a trivial matter. Linux geeks have gone bonkers over this device. Mine is destined to be a mini-HTPC.

The Pi seems better, however.
Placed an order. Looks like it should be fun!

Anyone have one yet? Mine's on its way.
Ordered up a clear acrylic case for it, and some other components to tinker with, too.
I have had mine a few weeks now. It is good that you have ordered the case because the thing is just asking to be broken. My case hasn't arrive yet so it is has had sparse use. Slow as expected running Debian. TBH not sure what to with it now I have it but I am glad I have supported the venture. May try XBMC.
